it's what's hidden

there under an iron grip
squeezing your heart
is a figment of your mind
hidden in obscurity

the trump card of truth
rises like a dead fish
seaweed and lies
you eat with the fork of your
tongue,
tasting the air
for safety

you are a coward you know,
you know nothing but the
sword you carry, ready to
battle with the slightest
provocation,

like an invocation to the passage
in a stilted frame of time
spinning another tale

to play keep away

that which is hidden
is no secret
but lives and dies in the only thing
of consequence,
thwarted

there is no redemption
for someone afraid to love.

Ok, I’ll bite, just what

Ok, I'll bite, just what does "BOLLOCKING" really mean, for us ugly Americans. ;-) I'm reminded of an old song... everybody plays the fool sometimes... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KiWqPxCo3iI "There are very few human beings who receive the truth, complete and staggering, by instant illumination. Most of them acquire it fragment by fragment, on a small scale, by successive developments, cellularly, like a laborious mosaic." Anais Nin

OK so ‘bollocking’ is

OK so 'bollocking' is used here, by us ugly Brits ;) as a colloquialism for a strong telling off! It's not a pretty word but it is just how I felt after reading this one. Sometimes I am merely a frightened fool, who needs a good bollocking AND a gentle reminder, that little bit of Motown really cheered me up, cheers Anna, more love Beki xx

if I may add explicit etymology

bollocks is slang for testicles, so a bullocking is multiple kicks in the balls. So the title of the Sex Pitsols album "Never Mind The Bollocks" extolled utterly reckless abandon. Cheers, Jess “Anarchism, really stands for the liberation of the human mind from the dominion of religion; the liberation of the human body from the dominion of property; liberation from the shackles and restraint of government.” Emma Goldman

Almost afraid to ask....

What brings forth this tirade against swordsmen? Was it something I said? In days gone by, I would have cleaved one who spoke such in two with a stroke of my steel. Fair Faerybeki is not the only one to feel bollocked. Vile lies! LOL ! We all do see some truth, in works of tongues not our own. Perhaps my words of contrition were not construed as truth. Mayhap I see that I might hold temper in check, and not rush to battle with demons not my own. The evils of the world might be better left to those held in thrall of them. LOL [Sir Gee rides off on his nag, a broken man.] Yelling over his shoulder at his demons, "I am not afraid to love!" A little lightheartedness, please take it as such. Gee.

Gee, a good laugh is almost

Gee, a good laugh is almost as good as a good f***. anna, slightly exhaused, lies back languidly, takes a long drag, beads of perspiration running down her bosom...ooops i get hijacked so easily these days... what i meant to say is "thanks". wink. ~A "There are very few human beings who receive the truth, complete and staggering, by instant illumination. Dear Anna,

What sordid poetry I must beak to be so meanly pressed – unpalpable and lipless epitaphs – mere names blown from crossed stones to nothingness. (Is it a covenant you wish greater than the flesh of my words – some masochistic raking of the heart through shreaded skin – some unbuttoning of abstracts into corporeals – usufructing my humming thudding congenital desire for joining into midsummer dreams safe of all chill gasps; sweet sweat grasping drama’s pelvis raising nodding heads eye to eye?) But no question asked. Brian

Jezze, Brian, you just wrote that? I love when you do that. Thank you. ....and the answer is... don't ask any questions. ;-) Love, Anna "There are very few human beings who receive the truth, complete and staggering, by instant illumination. Anna, you could break my heart at 20 paces, let alone 10. This

Oh Anna, Anna, you could break my heart at 20 paces, let alone 10. This is devastating & beautiful... oooh. Love & warmth & comfort to you Anni xx We dont believe in ourselves until someone reveals that deep inside us is valuable, worth listening to, worthy of our trust, sacred to our touch. Once we believe in ourselves we can risk curiosity, wonder, spontaneous delight or any experience that reveal

Never. You have a heart to

Never. You have a heart to break, and that's the whole point of the poem, beautiful Anni. Love always, Anna "You can avoid reality, but you cannot avoid the consequences of avoiding reality." Ayn Rand

Then I may have missed the point. But it matters not!

Then I may have missed the point. But it matters not! I hope not ever to have another broken heart, nor cause one, it seems a scathing write this one, many of my own favourite terms plucked & impaled here, you write so well, you shake the soul of true believers in love Anna. It can be a fragile thing, trust... but it's opposite offers such a loveless, comfortless life... much as you describe. I am so ever grateful mine is not like that & I will doubtful ever live such times again (it wasn't always that way, but one hopes we move ever onward... redemption or wisdom, whatever it takes) I am sad to read you feel any of this. This is a mystery all the same Cheers Anni~ "Clarity of mind means clarity of passion, too; this is why a great and clear mind loves ardently and sees distinctly what it loves". I dare say that I believe

I dare say that I believe this to be one of my favorites that I've seen of your works so far. It is probably one of the most honest poems that I've read in a good while. Thank you for sharing it here. The wellest of wishes for you, Quills

Anna does a little

Anna does a little happy-ego-dance....I forgot about this poem... And thank you for reading & returning me to it. In the moment I was soooooooooooooooooo angry and hurt...and I don't like feeling that way... always forget that all experiences are fodder for the poet, songwriter, singer, artist etc. That knowing/remembering returns me to a blissful state of awareness . Thank you 2 Quills. ~A "You can avoid reality, but you cannot avoid the consequences of avoiding reality." Ayn Rand

Truth being told, Jess, this

Truth being told, Jess, this poem is as much about me as the person with whom I do/did *battle*....afraid to love my own reaction. Afraid to love my own anger. I keep trying to chop down trees in that forest. ~A "You can avoid reality, but you cannot avoid the consequences of avoiding reality." Ayn Rand
