Misplaced Determination

Tantalus,

Would this fruit you reach for
Become bitter in your mouth,
For all of your struggling
If you were ever able to
reach it ?

Or would the taunting need
Become it's own form of hell,
Once this object reached your eager hands
And found its way to your lips?

Hunger drives you to desperately
Stretch yourself beyond your limits,
For there is no other food to be found.

But what choice do you have
Fixed in your place,
Receiving your due punishment
From the hands of the gods.

It must be ....

It must be part of a new mind-set, that is forming here in Neopoet land, a sort of passive letting the gods and fate lend their hand at taking care of the villians. I fear that the knight in shining armour, will no longer be needed to take up the battle for decency and the defense of others. Mayhap I shall have to use different weapons made of the sharper steel of wit, and the stouter oak of passive silence for a shield. It's not too late for an old knight to learn new battle tactics. Some hungers never die, but kill their victims. Hmmmmmm, food for thought. Always a pleasure, a great read! Gee.

like what I read here

Just a little let down by the last stanza, but the first verse was enough for me to warrant the 5 star rating! Excellent! Bonita j

Well… Interesting, though

Well... Interesting, though I think you lose the rhythm in some places. Konstantin.
