blinded

bloodshot, i pulled my eyes open
this morning, like a   wound interrupted,
failing to bridge a network of skin

should have been a gentle gesture
you would never believe violence
could translate

quickly i crumpled back behind
those shields of eyelids,
i had done my seeing, enough
for the month, more than the year,

i thought of what kind of creature sharks are
born to never close their eyes,
it made perfect sense why
they  are
 carniverous

and always moving.
