Another Path

This road that we share
Filled with twists and turns
Brings passengers to their knees
As they see a world best forgotten
So far from their destination
They somehow keep on their voyage
Winters become colder and bitter
Prairies turn into abandoned cities
Oh but they keep on their journey
Is it pride one may ask themselves
No it is a distorted glimpse of faith
Left in the veins of all of us
A hope that seems to slowly grow
Caught in the webs of despair
They seek no pity from anyone
For the road they choose is
Not one that is easy to forget
It is a road we seem to take daily
One that makes boys into men
The one that makes the weak stronger
If this road had not been taken
Then imagine where you would be?

Paul

Reminds me of a Robert Frost poem: "Two roads diverged in a wood, and I, I took the one less traveled. And that has made all the difference" Nice work. ~Jess K. ----------------------- "Flying so high, trying to remember How many cigarettes did I bring along? When I get down, I'll jump in a taxi-cab Driving through London-town to cry you a song..." - Jethro Tull

this is wonderful, passionate intelligent poetry

My only criticism is that it kind of refers to Robert Frosts "The Road Not Taken" and much much worse it has allusions to the excreble Morgan Scott Peck's hideous hedonophobic book "The Road Less Traveled" I see you can't change the imagery but beware of those 2 association. meow yip, purr, yowl and perfect body language of approval, contempt or demand
