LOVE'S ENIGMA
'Because a star explodes
and a thousand worlds like ours must die
I may never be with you
or even ask why.
"Yet this love
outshines the galaxy"
whispers a heart that cannot lie -
"It shall live beyond eternity
forever you and I."
This archaic longing aches from deep inside
my need for you
will always there abide.
Silently it must whisper from a hidden space -hide in shadows,
know its fall from grace.
The death of this love
must germinate from within
it's incipient birth
can never begin
For we are star-crossed lovers by intent -
knowing we can never be joined,
nor blessed by heaven's scent .Yet I shall bravely bear
cupid's crazed arrow missing us by just a hairremembering always our last goodbyethat mysterious smile marking“That what might not be
is...”BjR 25 June '09
