Bloom to Dust

Celebrate her rebirth—circling from bloom to dust
as spring renews the earth, prepares for the banquet
honoring a life’s worth.  Come season past greening

when, sweetly, fruit blushes; spirits rise up golden,
faint in summer’s hushes; praise blue flower bending,
face reaching, sun rushes in warm and inviting.

Autumn, time of wonder, rose petals mark the path;
twisted stalks bend under their dry payload, corn spent
like coins.  Colors of thunder warn change; twilight sends

ice dripping in the vein, but crystalline white light
of winter forgets pain; remembering today
carefully where is lain; spring will ever return.

So nicely wrought ...

this is. Rich vocabulary. Sparing of words given the ground covered. Something I admire. Of course. Perfectly sequenced. Sorry. I've gotta run. Can't take all day with this comment. Yours, Chuck PS: Oh, I forgot to mention: Best of luck on the contest. They'd better give you serious attention ... is all I've got to say on that.

Hi Chuck

Coming from you, this is high praise, indeed; and it is great to hear from you. Thank you. I know what you mean with the time constraints. I feel time is my enemy more and more. Dee

Congratulations on this write it is a great poem with difficult constraints & I feel you've done a great job. A timeless cycle so well worn has been turned to such a beautiful portrait of reflection, wonderfully woven here Deelilah Anni xx We dont believe in ourselves until someone reveals that deep inside us is valuable, worth listening to, worthy of our trust, sacred to our touch. Once we believe in ourselves we can risk curiosity, wonder, spontaneous delight or any experience that reveal

Anni

I am so sorry, I didn't get back to you on this one. Thank you for reading and commenting. I sometimes find it easier to write within constraints. And metaphors using seasons come easy to me for some reason, probably because I'm getting closer than I would like to admit to winter. The rose petals aren't all on the ground yet, but they're starting to fall. By the way, congratulations on your win a few months back. What was the name of that one? I would like to read it. I find the winner's posted, but not the title of the poem; or I am not looking in the right place. Maybe you could suggest they post the title of the poem along with the winner each month (since you're close to the powers that be}. Yours, Deelilah

what I really want to do is go look at what else you have writte

I don't mean to complain, but I have so little time to come visit Neo & it is frustrating because I do love these interactions & wish to spend more time frolicking here!!! Loved this write as I said, I have a long list of emails & messages to answer, but what I really want to do is go look at what else you have written... might have to sneak it in!! The win, was a long time ago, just made me feel guilty, bit like being in spotlight, makes me squirm... I do think often many poems more deserving go unnoticed... Anyway, it was a way of challenging myself to write not in the self dictated flow I normally do, but with restrictions & constraints (I am not good with those)... I forget the title... something about it being our Autumn here, Autumn was in the title anyway. Hope all is good with you.
