Sodium chloride
I wish the salt were still in its shaker
And not in the hands of this startled baker
Who seeing a snail on her kitchen floor
Finds a target on which crystal terror to pour
It takes just a pinch to help the dough rise
And salt adds savor to your spinach pies
On a mollusk's hide, though, it's poison pure
A few grains give hurt, and I'd hope for fewer
You're a mammal. Salt won't make you fizz.
It does make a difference what one is.
