A Hundred Miles

I'll touch that foreign horizon someday
like that exquisite moon standing tall...
I'll break through the stained glass
firmament one day...
dancing intricately around pale clouds...
this broken flashback gypsy...
flickering colours when I see your face
somewhere out there...
the father I never knew...

You won't be there
to fly behind my dreams...
are you the man in the moon,
the star lit grace all around me?
I've done the best I can...I hope you only see...

I have only one voice...
it'll echo a hundred miles someday...
the world is all around me,
ribbons of time dancing through the ebony night.
I'll shatter the barriers closing in one day...
I will make them realize...I can only be me.
There is no fear when dreams are the voice within,
looking straight to the orange dusted skies
moonlit stardust the grace of the angel...
I still know you're watching me...somewhere out there....
the father I'll never know...

skies stand still...man in the moon disappeared
even as the purple night cascaded,
drifting a hundred miles...this is my life.
I hope you see me just for who I am.
After all this time...there will be light...

That red glowing star shoots freely across the dark.
It is my one only chance to be all I want.
I am not afraid of the voice within.
Let the crimson star dust leave traces...
Is it your face I see when darkness fades?
Like a stain glass portrait of the moon...
If I live to see that star cascading a hundred miles
like a dream...cause everything I do
comes back to you...
the father I never knew...

and if there is one chance
to be what you wanted me to be.
There is darkness before the pink lit dawn.
Gypsy smiles in the light...shattered flashbacks
left in the night...you know
I'd run a hundred miles just to get to you...

Written from the heart...

Katie...... Anyone with the tiniest piece of brain can see that this was written from the heart. I wouldn't presume to touch any part of it. After all, you didn't even use the word cerulean,or kill anyone. You are quite enough for any father to to be proud of. You are kind and gracious, and a loyal friend. What more can a father ask from his child? There are any number of us older gentlemen here that would gladly call you daughter. Maybe we should form a collective and share you. Love and respect, Gee.

Hey Gee...

I thank you for the kind words and for reading this. I talked with my best friend, who also grew up without her father, and we both agreed that it was certain moments that we thought about our deceased fathers the most. Birthdays, graduations, celebratory moments, little moments, anniversaries, weddings (she gets married in August, I know she'll be thinking about her dad.) I don't know what more a father can ask from his child, but I do know that everyday it either makes me stronger or weaker and it's a choice, it's my life. And I choose to be strong, I choose to dream and be what I want to be only hoping it can be what he would be proud to see. I have been blessed here at Neo to have an adopted Dad. Rett adopted me on my birthday last month as an adopted Dad, and it means alot. My 20th birthday came and went and I was wondering what my own father would think of me. I can only hope he'd be happy with who I am. Peace n love Katie
