I Thank God Everyday that You're Gone
It’s good to know
That some things go
In one ear and out the other
For all the “I love yous” we said
I barely can recall
I just know every night and dawn
On my knees, I thank God you’re gone
And that I’ve been freed
I’ve wasted my time
Trying to love you
Attempting to melt your cold soul
No more illness
It’s game over
Done being played for a fool
I’ve walked on all the worlds eggshells
Hens can’t lay as fast as you lay down the rules
No more nights of hell
Now I know how fast my car tires can roll
You’ve found in me
I know, a true love
That I hope, again you’ll never get
Cause you can’t handle it- for you it’s too much
With your cold heart it don’t set
I let your door hit me hard in the ass
Leaving a mark-red- so I don’t forget
How much my emotions you’ve harassed
And caused my mind to fret
Now when someone mentions your name
I simply sigh and yawn
And everyday, with my head bowed low
Thank the Lord above you’re gone
