California's Juevenile Justice
I remember playing "hookie" from school, once
(and I remember because I got caught);
I felt like I was surrounded by idiots,
just look at the lesson 'twas taught;
by the punishment that I had got.
The Dean said I had done it before
so I was called to the office, by name.
Determined to make an example of me,
I too, tried to do much the same;
their logic was really quite lame.
He used words like, insubordination
and said my attendance made me look like a "fool";
the Dean enjoyed the sound of his voice so much,
he began apologizing for being so cruel;
then suspended me for two weeks out of school !
Looking back now, I shouldn't make folly
of a man clearly doing his best,
throughout the remainder of my education
when I ditched school, I quickly confessed,
so in High School, I truly was blessed.
I really worked hard at my studies
for after all was said and done,
my grades had to stay up to be ready
if I wanted to have any fun;
while being punished to surf at the beach, in the sun !
(and I remember because I got caught);
I felt like I was surrounded by idiots,
just look at the lesson 'twas taught;
by the punishment that I had got.
The Dean said I had done it before
so I was called to the office, by name.
Determined to make an example of me,
