Identity

Took a walk today
And found myself.
A stranger.
Toward the end of a long, abandoned, path
while the day grew longer.

There were dark nights,
I seemed to lose my sight.
Through thorns of malice,
And plagues of loneliness,
The air of uncertainty,
Was all that filled me.

I thought I lost my way…

Lived feeding insecurities,
Seems I only ever felt
What I could never be.
Carried so much guilt,
In an icy heart.
Always worried that I should,
Never did all that I could.

But…
I think I found my way.

And now I long to see,
Days that I can be more free.
Breathe in an unburdened sky.
Scream and cry and sigh.
And in the end, find…me.
And not the stranger that I’ve come to be.

Took a walk today,
And found…myself.

Celadon Hi Spiffs! Love your first verse... discovering the stranger... and the final wonder of finding yourself in the last two lines.Much hope here! Reminds me of a lovely song by June Tabor called "Sudden Waves"! Warm regards, Celadon
