Peter and Ediths Room

On the bookcase settled  a thin layer of dust ,a copy of a study done by Engels on the conditions of working classes , their book The
Arcitecture of Industrial Britain spine was crumbling, and I found fallen to the back of the case a small pamphlet on
country walks in Nidderdale, I opened this book and inside written in pencil was 1/6d. The mantle clock tic tocked peacefully at a gentle pace and a grandfather clock waited in the corner to relinquish soft chimes every quarter hour with  pleasant ease. On the coffee table a white cloth lay holding a small teastain and a used bus ticket to Carnforth.

I love the simplicity of this write, it just takes you with it on silent perusal of the room. Thank you. I am about to get into my day & this is a lovely balm, even though it has an undercurent of sadness somehow... or perhaps it's me today, a kind of melencholy of remeniscence, that is not a bad thing at all, all the more evocative. I can almost smell, "lilly of the valley" talcom powder & the sweet sugared tea traces, hear the ticking of these warming old clocks. Such a deep memory of childhood for me. Lovely~ Anni ~~~ "So often is the virgin sheet of paper more real than what one has to say, and so often one regrets having marred it." ~Harold Acton, Memoirs of an Aesthete, 1948

Hmm, I forgot to give it 5 stars & now I can't... not sure why, I think it deserves 5 stars, just so you know I will come back this evening & see if I can rectify. Love reading your works, such a refreshing pleasure

I think you have written perfect poetry here, I'm wondering if you are referring to rhyming being poetry? There are many here who would shudder at that possibility. I think your style is really wonderful as it is actually. I would not want to change it myself. Love reading your works, such a refreshing pleasure.
