Word weft nova bright ("Ode" no 3 for O')

Tumbling, flailing, slow, lilt, sweet
You play your words to raw heart beat
You split the ground beneath our feet
And drag us through the strata

How is it that you pull from me
So many views I'd never see
Yet you set these apparitions free
To play upon the darkness

We taste from you the simple dreams
The aches, the devil's silent screams
The micro view where your living gleams
In its richness and its starkness

You paint for us the bleak, the cold,
The blazing passion, the tender fold
Future hints, historic gold
We melt beneath your magic

With words that take a feathered flight
A dizzy spin from massive height
A dark deep plunge devoid of light
Majestic, humble, tragic

I love these travels through your mind
Tormented trails you leave behind
The brilliant shine, and contact kind
Your words bleed dark and haemorrhagic

You are prisoner to written cages
Yet freed on wings drawn through the ages
You speak through beggars, scholars, sages
And bring this to our sight

Always with a wonder glow
The images just shift and flow
Direction change, new angles show
Your brilliance O’, is Nova bright

"Oh My God"

As the Americans say with such a loud and wonderful clang. This is poetry, this is good, this is magically rhymed, this is SUCH a tribute, this is awesome. Oh dear Anni of the wild red land we send you the sound of clapping hands, of flapping wings, of bowing trees, of steaming clouds of soft sweet breeze, of ploughed field perfumes horses fine, jangling their tackle ringing their bells, Oh Anni mine what words divine as 'hyllest' to a friend of thine We know the cause and stop to pause his wonder words like wine. Oh blimey! Well done anyway Anni from Ann

I so love your wonderful mixes of culture & art dear Ann... "Oh Blimey"... after such a lovely set of lines yourself, you are joy, my friend. & yes, but I look now & wonder what was I doing trying to set words of praise to the king of word weaving in our little clan (I know there are kings of other styles also, please forgive... poetic lisence perhaps?). I thought if I offered a different style to that he masters, but still it is hard to do justice to you wonderful writers. xxx~ Anni ~~~ "I feel no need for any other faith than my faith in the kindness of human beings. Your stories always astound me, sometimes mildly shock me, amaze me, since you have been through so much & seem so resilliant. Yes, I am glad you have curbed the alcohol that dries up those exquisite brain cells of yours... no no, protect them they are too precious. In the end Steven, I am just so glad to have found you here writing such ever enticing works with those spilling sparkling terms & turns of phrase. Hi Gee. Well, then I feel flattered & honoured since I know when I am lost for words it is usually pretty special (we verbosity junkies), but the irony there is that it is O's poems that commonly have me speachless, in hindsight I am not sure this does him justice, but it is done now.~ Anni ~~~ "So often is the virgin sheet of paper more real than what one has to say, and so often one regrets having marred it." ~Harold Acton, Memoirs of an Aesthete, 1948

It is evident that in the rarest of cases, this poetry site should enable reviewers who find 'elation' to be the only term to describe the magnificance of such a work, the opportunity to parade these writers like statuesque idols on our shoulders through the streets. In the wake of your gentle hand pressed soundly to parchement, you have boldly coerced time and heart beat to stand still. I breathe in your fragrance and the lusterous hue spread so vividly across your canvas only to find I have but a final gasp to remind me of the fleeting rush that only your words are truelly capable of. You leave the best of us on our knees and impotent. PINT

Oh god PINT, that is one hell of a compliment, I need a fan to cool the rising blush, thank you (she attempts a semblance of grace belatedly), & all the more flattering given the wonderful eloquence with which you warm me. That little write in itself is a sweet & wonderful poem & I DO thank you, but I hardly feel you (or anyone else) is left impotent my friend, I mean, look at the way you have writen this. You know, one of the things that I love about Orgami's writing here is that he invites interaction so generously & at the same time the imagery he inspires works magic in me at times so that I am able to just flow interactively with him as a writer. My aspirations are really to do this kind of thing for others, if I can in any way inspire another to write (even just to think or smile I guess) I am happy. You words are so lovely & I think you. I have to ask (hoping that's not offensive), what is the story with your picture? It looks like an olympic moment of glory! ~ Anni ~~~ "So often is the virgin sheet of paper more real than what one has to say, and so often one regrets having marred it." ~Harold Acton, Memoirs of an Aesthete, 1948

Wow, Bonita, thank you, that's high praise. Really I don't feel it's due so much to me but to the man I dedicate this "Ode" to. Dearest O' it is almost 1:30 am & this deserves more clarity than I have, you are an exceptional poet, you must surely know, & your generosity abounds... thank you so much, you inspire me hugely. I would dearly love to join you at Twiggs (I bet that coffee is good) I have a vision of it... Looking out the window & the birds are wheeling a little around the power lines, some sit sentinel like, as if they know we watch them.. or they are in meditation & beyond foolish human petty concerns! (anthropomorphising again!!!). I think I would have NO words, I would sit wanting to laugh, giggle, stay in reverent silence, weep, look, share the view & silence & a billion conflicting responses all in the slowed moments... Poet to poet, it is a potent connection there is NO doubt at all, I know it, it has been one of the more painful experiences of my life to lose a poet lover, like severing a deeper connection than most ever experience. Still ( she says, shaking from the reverie!!!) it is unlikely my friend, I must look up exactly how many miles we are distance across the globe. Look I have waffled... you are wonderful, you know so well that is in my heart! Cheers, have a coffee for me at Twiggs in honour of us as fellow poets, I feel it is a lovely commeraderie! Anni,

this is so beautiful! I love your rhyme scheme and your flow here. Orgami is indeed someone whose words never fail to draw us all in. My usual nitpickyness prompts me to point out stanza 3, where there is a little jumble of apostrophy usage (devils->devil's, it's->its), and a typo in l.7 (apparitions). Yours, ~Nina

Thank goodness for you my friend!! (I wonder were you a teacher at some stage?) Yes, I had to rhyme since I needed to acknowledge him in a style that was seperate to his own or else it would just have paled into insignificance next to his responses!!!! Thank you Steven, so honoured to be of importance to you... you

Dear Steven, it is more than I could hope, if I do nurture your poetic fire, or indeed inspire you in any way I am so very pleased. There is always so much in anything you write, struggling to make time for Neo now, but it feels so important. My eyes are green not blue I am afraid, some days they are brown or in between, depends on the colours I am reflecting perhaps. Thanks for the compliments, but I know it is for my writing we connect & that is the thing that I celebrate so much, apearance is transient & I still can't always step into the sense that I am not an ugly freckly curly redheaded kid with scabs on her knees that could never be attractive, so I focus on other things... It is always the heart that matters most with me, though mostly these days I am much more happy with my apearance (just so you don't feel a need to reassure me) as long as my lover adores me I am happy really. Ah good cafe's are so important I think, I love this town for that, it is so pretty, & tourists come every weekend & holidays (you call them vacations I think) so there are lots of good cafes, though they vary depending on ownership & staff, it is the personalities that do it for me, though it's great when that is matched with good coffee making skills. So much history you share, it's great Steven, I miss art study, really miss it so much, don't make the time to d any ... not for so long now, sigh. Better go Thank you Steven, so honoured to be of importance to you... you know you are for me. xxx~ Anni ~~~ "Courage, it would seem, is nothing less than the power to overcome danger, misfortune, fear, injustice, while continuing to affirm inwardly that life with all its sorrows is good; that everything is meaningful even if in a sense beyond o

I feel so inspired & grateful to all of these wonderful writers

Lovely Kelsey, with your facade of tough vampire & darkness, you constantly shine brightly through it with warmth & generosity, the very antithesis of what a vampire seems to symbolise, feeding off others , skulking & uncaring, selfish & shamed... You are so exquisitely alive... not knocking the vampire thing, just hits me so strongly at time, that contrast. Thanks for your acknowledgement & I would bless anything you wrote to honour me of course, but I don't require it you know, that's not why I wrote these odes, I wrote them partly because I feel so inspired & grateful to all of these wonderful writers you included I might add, & partly because it is as worthy a topic as any, a good exercise to see if I can focus on flavour of someone I admire & do them justice... also because i had hoped not to be lazy in this aproach since these are great writers I acknowledge, so I felt it would push me. But mostly, because I feel these things, I wanted to speak them in their own right, not just as a response to a poem or comment. Anyway, glad they are going ok by you, I have had a little wave of more personal writing yesterday so I have some of these as a break from Odes, but will return since there are many here deserving... that inspire me directly & support me so loyally & warmly. Did you do the ink??? the humanity mixing and folding on itself as history of man turns ever quickly One of the interesting things I did do when I read poets stories Either and mostly when they were gone By misfortune of their own doing they were complex creatures sometimes loathed (not all some were keenly acedmenics with good providence to hang onto the stable and produce find works as musicians do too) but some were creative masters through diligence and extremely hard work to the craft I so do remember well the work and hard knocks they took to drive themselves to be published The conditions they went through as children some of them or the way they lived chasing their demons or thriving in them until the all too soon ending blew out their flame I dont regard myself as any of them I am a mere garden variety in the steady allowance of repetitions working it the way I can If I were intently serious about it there is a college and univeristy close by with workshops and in house canadian poets and the local Reading club which I have never gone too Preferring to post here or on Diaryland divergance of paths for some following the ego debates the feather ruffling that goes on You Anni I praised high and still do I meant all that I wrote You are a bold one and I miss you already I am honoured that this poem has garnered attention as it has for you and for the Ode to the username i use I wish I had someone in this city to relate too in person as much as I can to some here that is my next challenge to go out and find this be as painfully exposed as I do here through fiction god knows what may come of it probably nothing but this site sustains me and Im driven in my way to write and leave my works here also thank you Anni for the benifit of meeting such a kind and generous soul as yourself And bravo for sticking up in what you are passionate about and believe in I so do love leaders who are out there Forever Yours Steven!
