THE NEXT DANCE
THE NEXT DANCE
Who will take the next dance
The luck of the lotto ticket
Or my grandsons laugh
Who will take the next dance
Finding money on the street
Or the priceless smile in a friend
I once had
Who will take the next dance
The thought of having a job
Or all the bills I owe
That is kicking my ass
Who will take the next dance
A life of happiness
Or a life reliving a mistake’
Of a foolish task
Who will take the next dance
Every morning
I awake this is what I ask
Because I will need
The right shoes
If I am to have this next dance
Who will take the next dance
The luck of the lotto ticket
Or my grandsons laugh
Who will take the next dance
Finding money on the street
Or the priceless smile in a friend
I once had
Who will take the next dance
The thought of having a job
Or all the bills I owe
That is kicking my ass
Who will take the next dance
A life of happiness
Or a life reliving a mistake’
Of a foolish task
Who will take the next dance
Every morning
I awake this is what I ask
Because I will need
The right shoes
If I am to have this next dance
