Summer's a clown

Summer's a clown

Summer’s a clown

A bright red nose

A jocular crowd wherever he goes.

Baggy trousers

A colourful gait

Sometimes crooked, sometimes straight.

A happy grin

White plate eyes

Balloons, laughter and custard pies.

An abstract artist

Balanced on stilts

Smoothly performed to musical lilts.

Captive spectators

Suspension rehearsed

Excitable hush till the audience burst.

Startling noises

A wide open stare

Summer’s a package beyond compare.

I get the impression you like summer lol. It is my favorite season and you have depicted it well. I would however suggest a more eye catching title as Summer is so common it is easy to pass over. Chrys

Hi Chrys

Thank you for your comments. In South Wales the summer season is very wet so I miss summer days in England - Though when it's sunny in S.Wales there is nothing like it. I agree with your centiments - perhaps I could call it summer's clown, I don't know, what do you think?

While this is a good description of a clown,

I would like a clearer idea of how these images relate to summer. For example, how is summer like: A happy grin/White plate eyes/Balloons, laughter and custard pies? Maybe you could integrate some images of summer in with it, e.g., a rose garden grin/sunshine plate eyes/Balloons, laughter and custard pies. Just an idea. I'm not sure how it would turn out.

hi Arrow

Thanks for your comments and observations, Here's my interpretation of Summer. During summer people, to me, seem to be more relaxed and happy, it brings out the clown in them, People wear brighter and more comfortable clothes so they have "baggy trousers, a colourful gait". the "bright red nose" dipicts sun burnt noses. you see people smiling, they are more relaxed and do funny things, they have happy grins. people wear sun glasses, after they take them off they get "white plate eyes", though that probably doesn't happen so much with sun cream, Summer is an artist, the flowers, plants, and nature in general is artistic and it is finely tuned, "balanced on stilts". The birds and other creatures provide "musical lilts" and people play there music or have parties. Nature in the summer comes alive, I'm awed by it, perhaps it's just me, so it's as if people are "captured" amazed. The audience can't wait to see what will happen next, but all of this happens every year so it's "Suspension rehearsed". When summer is in full bloom it is just amazing so there's an "Excitable hush till the audience burst". That's what I was thinking when I wrote the poem. I hope this break down has helped. thank you for taking the time to read and comment. Mand
