The Road
I must explain to you
so that you may better understand
why I think the way I do.
I respect others
because my parents showed respect to me
allowing myself to grow.
I'm amiable enough
because they also showed me tolerance,
which taught me patience.
I know the value of love
because they loved me unconditionally,
paving the way for me to learn to do the same.
But most of all
I was taught to be selfless,
so as not to be a self-serving individual.
I'm still learning, though
but these are the fences that align my road...
the road I call "love".
so that you may better understand
why I think the way I do.
I respect others
because my parents showed respect to me
allowing myself to grow.
I'm amiable enough
because they also showed me tolerance,
which taught me patience.
I know the value of love
because they loved me unconditionally,
paving the way for me to learn to do the same.
But most of all
I was taught to be selfless,
so as not to be a self-serving individual.
I'm still learning, though
but these are the fences that align my road...
the road I call "love".
