Waiting On Yesterday
Every morning when I rise,
I am thankful for the chance,
to straighten all the mess of my yesterday,
this day I know I have,
for no one promised me a tomorrow,
So let this day be the one,
that I shine as the morning sun,
Every day that I try to shine,
I look ahead and see a cloud,
Bringing the rain of discontent,
washing out my perfect day,
that started in my yesterday,
Somewhere deep inside,
I sense the shine of my accomplishments,
that are in the days that passed,
So no matter what I do today,
it will only reflect on my yesterday,
I've come to know,
that I am measured by the time,
I spent on the days that passed,
And not in the time I count in my tomorrows,
that still has not arrived in my today,
I stand here in the present,
waiting on my knowledge and experience,
of my yesterdays.
I am thankful for the chance,
to straighten all the mess of my yesterday,
this day I know I have,
for no one promised me a tomorrow,
So let this day be the one,
that I shine as the morning sun,
Every day that I try to shine,
I look ahead and see a cloud,
Bringing the rain of discontent,
washing out my perfect day,
that started in my yesterday,
Somewhere deep inside,
I sense the shine of my accomplishments,
that are in the days that passed,
So no matter what I do today,
it will only reflect on my yesterday,
I've come to know,
that I am measured by the time,
I spent on the days that passed,
And not in the time I count in my tomorrows,
that still has not arrived in my today,
I stand here in the present,
waiting on my knowledge and experience,
of my yesterdays.
