Chai dreams

chai dreams of grainy and silver demise
eyes that will wander and stray to the skies
I've followed and given more than you could take
now all I've accomplished is all you'd forsake

adrift - I am floating - on Neptune's soft sigh
a rampage to nowhere, to nowhere a lie
the broken tell stories of loss and despair
the world never listens, too caught up to care

we build tranquil assumptions from inside this void
which - long past forgotten - was seized and destroyed
so tomorrow let's whisper of snow and of sin
yet I will not wear this abstraction of skin

three knives on the table, four hearts on the wall
the further I journey, the farther I fall
you hand me five clovers with the joker's last laugh
beheades in August, deprived of his staff

Tempest, my Tantrum, to blossom in June
my swirl is too late yet my passion's too soon
and in silent congression these gallows have tried
to punish the Weepers who've wept by my side

An Interesting piece

You have a wonderful talent, as do alot of the poets on this site. But there are very few that can reach the penacle you do. I thought this was a written classic and can and does stand on its own. My heart gives you more than 5 stars! Keep up the wonderful writing! Friends, Pixee

Hey Kata,

Again you have reeled me in like a pitiful fish, with no escape from your words on these alluring lines! I love the way you mix the purity of snow with the impurity of sin: "so tomorrow let’s whisper of snow and of sin yet I will not wear this abstraction of skin" I am always taken by you ability!! Congrats!!! Eddie

There is an amazing flurry of snapshot images

here Proprietress which makes it the kind of poem you spend a great deal of time trying to put the metaphoric jigsaw together. It's certainly a wonderful poem although for me perhaps i am used to more extended imagery and metaphor. I felt a little uncomfortable when you switched from floating on Neptune's soft sigh to "a rampage to nowhere" since i have never felt drifting or swimming or even drowning could equate to a rampage, although it certainly has a discordant effect on the reader which wakes you up and perhaps that is precisely what you intended. Given the strong lyrical rhyming couplet form you have used it is clear immediately when one line is not quite as smooth as the others in the context of the lines before and after. The lines below for example: "five clovers on your hand, the joker’s last laugh" and "yet I will not wear this abstraction of skin" My favourite lines just had to be: "three knives on the table, four hearts on the wall the further I journey, the further I fall" I really enjoyed the poem because it sucked me in (hence all the comments) and that is most definitely a skill. My best wishes Keith PS I think you meant "deprived" rather than "derived" of his staff in the penultimate verse.

thank you Keith

for your critique, it is greatly appreciated. I am made the change on derived, didn't notice that one, thanks!!! I agree about the lines you stumbled on. do you have any suggestions on how to smooth them out? love from here, Kata

Just suggestions of course

Just a little change of order at the beginning of those lines might help and i also suggested another version for the last line of your clover verse as well so tomorrow let’s whisper of snow and of sin, no more will I wear this abstraction of skin three knives on the table, four hearts on the wall the further I journey, the further I fall Your hand has five clovers, the joker’s last laugh beheaded in August, deprived of his staff the broken tell stories of loss and despair the world never listen with hearts that can care or the world never listen, their hearts cannot care I think you have to use "listen" rather than "listened" because this refers back to the broken "telling" stories using the present rather than the past tense. Hope this is of some help Kata All the best Keith

inspiration

your suggestion actually inspired a thought. I changed a few words in the first and last lines of the clover stanza. I feel that it reads smoother now. smooth enough, sir professor? I just can't get myself to change the abstraction of skin line because I love it so much. thank you for all your help! I appreciate it very much! Kata

So many images to love here

So many images to love here my Proprietress, I can't pick just one... So I'll say BRAVA! (And Origami you done good to inspire this...real good.) I, however, am frothing with a bit of jealousy, how you manage to say ALL THAT and make it rhyme? Shaking my head in admiration, Anna "No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment of punishment." Article 5 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

return

like my walks in the woods sometimes I just ignore the trail and find new things returning to them now and then in different seasons like visiting an old freind Like coming back here to re read this poem the last line is fabulous and I love it I love art movies when Im in a reflective quiet mood which is rare and this poem im reading in such a mood savouring it like my Twiggs coffee moments which are now rare due to financial limitations (our money goes toward the betterment of our favourite teen in clothes trips food etc We love her!) so I drink tea at home now and read and listen to music in my room and rare come here late to sift through the many works and to search and find the old treasures I loved and still do Thank You

changes

I was really unhappy about this one, I don't know. the order of the lines seemed illogical somehow and I was getting frustrated about the the broken tell stories of loss and despair but the world never listened with hearts that could care line, so I changed that one. if anyone has a better suggestion or thinks the line is better now, please let me know, this one has been driving me completely crazy.
