waitin' for my darlin'

My sons have got the Hi-Lux
but I've still got the Duke,
900 cc's fuel injected,
and it really packs a boot.

Silken styled Italian engineering
it sounds out the sweetest note,
but there's no time left for thinkin'
when you grab it by the throat.

Fresh rubber for the front wheel
brand new tyre on the back,
now would be a good time
to take my baby to the track.

But I'm waitin' for my darlin'
my Cinderella from the ball,
to try on the leather jacket
that's been hangin' in the hall.

If it fits good across her shoulders
nice and snug around her waist,
then she can be my sweetheart,
and I will be her mate.

Fresh rubber for the front wheel
brand new tyre on the back,
now would be a good time
to take my baby to the track.

We'll head down to Victoria,
cruise along The Ocean Road,
blow the cobwebs off our lifestyle
set a wildfire in our souls.

We'll ride out to the headland
of the Great Australian Bight,
alongside the Southern Ocean,
rollin' majesty and might.

Faces tightened by the salt spray
feeling wind blow through our hair,
let me kiss my darlin' sweetheart,
make sure she knows how much I care.

Fresh rubber for the front wheel
brand new tyre on the back,
now would be a good time
to take my baby to the track.

Having riden bikes all my life I love the imagery of this one .. Last time I was on the Great ocean road was on the way to the very first grand prix held in Aus ... Sitting on the back of my ex husband watching the beautiful coastline ... ahhhhh they were good times ... Phillip Island was unprepared for the influx of thousands of bike mad aussie's ... you brought back lots of memories with this one LMAO ... camping with thousands of aussies next to the track and the scenery it was bloody cold but beautiful ....Wayne Gardner won the race and I remember like yesterday screaming like a banshee for him to win lol ... the battle on the last lap of the race the thrill and the excitement and the pride I felt as an aussie that day will be with me till the day I die ... thank you for taking me back to fond memories ... love J x

Hey love you for that

I've been a Ducati man for a long time, from the far north to the deep south, but not the wild west. I can hear that banshee wail taking Gardner to the line, good days on the island. Love to ya Craig

you are a joy Blanka

they were indeed called Urals, a few even turned up in Australia, I believe they were modelled off the early BMW's. Cheap transport, built like tractors, would have been so much fun. Five kids and a cat in a sidecar, that's hillarious, you would have heard the screams and laughter from miles away. I can almost imagine the stanza.. Fresh rubber on the front wheel brand new tyre on the back... as a chorus and hear the singing, I really like poetry that can be spoken with a touch of musicality about it. Thanks for the stars. Cheers, and luv back to ya Craig
