Count your blessings

Perhaps it is easy to complain
about things going wrong,
about life being boring,
about not getting what we want.

We meet people daily
and talk about the dreams that shattered,
misery in our lives,
a garden with no roses and only thorns.

People- wake up !
wake up and look around.
Many of us lack
what you have abound.

Are you able to read this poem?
Be happy that you can.
Millions of children out there
have never held a pen.

You want a bigger house
with an amazing view.
There are people who
don't get daily bread to chew.

You don't have the latest car
or laptop or mobile phone?
Did you know that many of us
have nothing to call our own.

It might not be as easy as it seems
but its worthwhile to stop crying.
If you really want something in life
stop complaining and start trying.

Just a few things here
I would like to say.
Don't let pride, jealousy and
hatred block your way.

Because whatever comes to the world
one day disappears.
Be happy for what you are
and combat your fears.

Lovely sentiments

Yes I agree, but then I too have had little money for the 17 years my own employer, Painting water colours and decorating porcelain, often paying no taxes as I didn't earn enough to do so. BUT I still managed to eat sleep and go for long walks, and felt far richer than any of those business magnates with their millions; its all a matter of attitude to money. I have 'had it good' as one could say, even though I had a father who was in both world wars, we were never rich but learnt to prize those things that make life rich, one doesn't own the stars but one can reflect them in ones own eyes and possess their beauty for the moments we look at them; TV's and cars, or whatever is considered worth while in this modern world, are of no value next to nature's wonders experienced first hand, and no one can take them away from us. I know what you mean though, and sympathise with all those who find themselves in war zones, people animals and birds, nothing is happy when man is at war. Why don't those who wish to fight just stand opposite each other and have a shoot-out and let the others live in peace. No human idea is worth dying for. I am thankful every day when I am in good health and have no pain, more I do not ask for. Yours Ann of Norway

Dear Ann..

I completely agree with you. A persons life is futile if he does not realise and experience the beauty of it. There is so much to explore, to look forward to and to hope for. But the sad fact is that we fail to see beyond the shine and glitter of things that don't mean much. It is more important to be a contented human being but this, we conveniently ignore. I am glad that you feel the same. Thank you. Regards Samaira.

How True You Are!

How true you are dear Samaira!! And how good it would be if everyone in the world could see all these things the way you have described them here! Sincerely, Wafi
