Gianni the young Adonis?
"Gianni, the young Adonis?"
The young 'adonis'
that I met in 1959
is still that young man
that wooed me:
"Oh Anna, Anna, Anna," he said
as I refused his advances
"Don't leave me in that room
Mother, father, sister:"
"For all he does is chant for me
Oh Anna, Anna, Anna,"
approaching me so close
what can I do
I thought
push him away
say nay, say nay,
but still he pressed his suit.
And when in London
he espied
A young American by my side
as I was driving at the wheel
his head upon my shoulder laid
his feelings smouldered angrily
why does she let him
and never me?
Oh Anna, Anna, Anna,
will you not come to me?
