robin skitters across

They are everywhere now

The first sign of spring came early here with the appearance of the redbreast. Wormlings good feed for robin yes? This poem has me with a half grin as mister robin gets my fish bait before I do lol Thanks, Mark Trust is a secret that never comes home.

Though I'm ashamed ...

to confess it, as a kid I learned to time a running charge at a worm-tugging robin so I could retrieve the worm then freed up by the robin's hurried escape. The challenge was to scare the bird away before the worm was secured in beak ... but after the worm was loosened up enough from soil so I could ... well, you know the rest of that story. Then I'd go fishing. For stream trout. Thanx, Chuck

Good. interesting. short and to the point. i think the commentary so far is longer than the work which is cool

Chuck

Oh the robins were definitely well on their way to becoming fat happy bastards here! We had a nice, warm rain and there were oodles of worms. Great poem - loved the imagery. Ever watch one pull so hard that the worm breaks, and the bird stumbles back a step?? It's funny. ---------------------------------------- "Until that ‘morrow render unto me That which is mine my stipend well deserved The fairest flower of your progeny Your sons, your daughters your hopes and your dreams The cruel consequence of your conceit" - Steve Earle

Chuck, I often wonder just how much of that worm the robin actually gets! ______________________________________________________ Income-tax forms should be more realistic by allowing the taxpayer to list "Uncle Sam" as a dependent Anonymous
