The empire of my soul
I have never been traumatized by injustice
I have not been amused to death either.
Ever since I allowed my soul to get better of me,
I feel as free as a bird
whose shackles have been broken.
My life can't be explained within
the constraints of the twenty-six alphabets
neither can it be lived
on lands amidst the seven oceans.
It reaches miles along the sea and fathoms beneath it too.
It reaches everywhere, where light can go
Above the stars and over the horizon
there is so much to explore.
I am the flame and my soul is the wind
I can't live without it, nor can I die.
I have seen the graves and the cradles,
heard cries as well as songs of joy
I have played melancholies and melodies alike
I have seen the doves fly up above
and seen the dried leaves fall aside.
I have thrown a pebble in a pond
and sobbed in a corner all alone
I have asked my mind all sorts of questions
and answered them all, by my own.
All this, and more, is the empire of my soul.
