Best To Let Sleeping Dogs "Lie"

See that table over there?
I once jumped over it
a hundred times
in rapid succession!
I can bark you up a tree
or keep up in tone with
the finest Botticelli.

Only the sculptured cats
in the hall
pay me no mind
Even the wind
changes its direction
for me. Clouds part
and brilliant sunshine screams
through frosted windows

Master? What master?
My food lies in my bowl,
doesn’t it?
That door opens
at my every whim,
right?
Now you tell me:
Who’s the master over who?

I like this Jess

But I would make a few changes. Granted, they are only for reasons of aesthetics, but it just looks better. *LOL* See that table over there? I once jumped over it a hundred times in rapid succession! I can bark you up a tree or keep up in tone with the finest Botticelli. Only the sculptured cats in the hall pay me no mind Even the wind changes its direction for me. Clouds part and brilliant sunshine screams through frosted windows Master? What master? My food lies in my bowl, doesn’t it? That door opens at my ever whim, right? Now you tell me: Who’s the master over who? Respectfully, Rett: "God made an idiot for practice, then he made a school board." Sleeping dogs.

I love anything about dogs,so had to read this. I was not disappointed! As a dog owner, you know who is the master! We may own them, but if they could vote.... I am sure that would quickly change. I often think about what might happen if they could articulate. We know that they can talk, but what if they could say things specific to situations? Your language was perfect, the title was awsome, and your logic right on! I was going to write something today, but in a different vein. Now you have me thinking about doing a poem about dogs. I think you will see how and what idea I got from you. Thank you! Gee. P.S. Rett was right. But it just does look better. Gee.

among all your writes is my absolute favorite. Your best ever. My opinion, anyway. And thanx, Chuck PS: I particularly love the lines: Clouds part and brilliant sunshine screams through frosted windows

Thanks all...

I have amended the write as per Rett and Chuck's observations. I was told that because of the human and dog, it wasn't quite in line with the requirements for the May contest. I'll see what I can cook up for that one. ---------------------------------------------- "Until that ‘morrow render unto me That which is mine my stipend well deserved The fairest flower of your progeny Your sons, your daughters your hopes and your dreams The cruel consequence of your conceit" - Steve Earle

Its a pleasure for me to see you write in this beautiful form! great piece. I always say we must write about what we know. I love this only because its true. Who is truly the king of the castle them or us. They win hands down!!! Thanks, Eddie Life is like a railroad track that leads to many junctures, if you stand on the track Love comes speeding along and runs you over!! Splat!!!!

Can it be done?

Can stinking memories be left to wither to dust? Can one be master of the present? I think so . . . This is a nice clean style, Jess. Mark
