Heaven On Fire.

I saw them
Caravans of Men
And Angels
Coming out of Heaven!
Some wailing
Cleansing their wounds
Some sobbing
Looking backwards
Now and then.
Towards Hell
They went.
For in Heaven
No more could
They stay!

The green gardens
Of Heaven
Were engulfed
By the fires!
Around every tree
Danced
Human-like witches,
Eating the flesh
Of their dead
Brothers
And sisters.

In the streams
Of "Ab-e-zam zam"(Sacred water)
Was,
flowing
The red blood
Of innocent people.
Where-in were they
Taking bath,
Dancing...
Laughing...
Human-like monsters.

In Heaven's sacred streets
Were singing
Devil-like Humans
The satanic songs.
Their own
Brothers' blood
They drank.
Sons of Adam
Ashamed Adam
Once again.

Heaven echoed
With
The cruel laughs
Of these
Devil-like Humans.
(Yeah! Humans
They were.)
Before whom once
Angels
Had bowed!
But now
Let alone
The Angels,
Even Satan
Was surprised
To behold their sight!

This poem was inspired by the recent fighting between the millitants and the Pakistani soldiers, in the valley of Swat, North West Frontier Province of Pakistan, resulting in a great massacre and human disaster forcing some more than 3 million people to leave their homes. Some of these people are living with their relatives in Peshawar (Capital of the porvince) and other safe areas, while majority of them live in the hot, tented refugee camps provided by the UN. About nine people are crowded into one tent, (many even dont have the tents) where there is no sufficient water, food or health facility for them. The hot summer weather is another calamity, looking for a great human disaster.
Chlidren are the ones who suffer the most, facing killing diseases like diarrhea, cholera, typhoid, influenza and malaria and going without education.

Swat, once called the Switzerland of Asia due to its natural beauty, is now turned into a Hell….

This one is good

I really like this piece because of the subject matter. The short lines depict the sequence and a settle that was once peaceful with greenery is now red with blood, bomb and explosions. Well done and best wishes. T.

Thank You Janice.

Thank you so much Janice, for reading and commenting. Thanks for your generous appreciation. It is really a tough time now a days here, the condition of these innocent homeless people makes me so sad. Swat is relatively a very cold area and they are not used to the hot weather, now it is really like a Hell for them. Many of the families even don't have the tents to live in. I don't know how many more rivers of blood will be flown to fight this bloody "War on Terror".... Sincerely, Wafi

Wafi, this is a very

Wafi, this is a very powerful piece, there has been some coverage of this in our newspapers but we're never really told the full extent of events like these. It appals me that people anywhere are subjected to such things, such conditions do not foster love or life. The imagery in your poem is so strong it makes the emotions almost tangible, really effected me this one, I think I need some time to digest it and will no doubt come back and read it again. A really brave and poignant write, I'm really loving your recent work Wafi, so topical, so relevant and obviously very close to your heart, aafarin, yet again my friend! :) much love b x

Thanks A Lot Beki

Thanks a lot Beki, for taking the time to read and comment. Glad you care, it means a lot to me. The operation against the Taliban is still going on in Swat and more people are trying to go to the safer places, no one was informed before the Government started the operation, the result was hundreds of innocent families destroyed along with the millitants. Those who succeeded to migrate to the safe places had no proper place or facilities to avail. Children are the ones who suffer the most, facing killing diseases like diarrhea, cholera, typhoid, influenza and malaria are the biggest challenges, along with going without education. Hope the international community help in this humanitarian crises. I am very sorry Beki, for telling you all this, as it is not something good to hear....but I have no choice, reality hurts. Much Love, Wafi

Don’t be sorry Wafi,:) it

Don't be sorry Wafi,:) it is important to get this information out there, it took me over 5mins on the bbc worlds news website to even find any stories on what's going on there. I too hope the international community helps, the webpage I found did lead me to believe there will soon be an appeal here for aid. I can't help but think that there must be a better way to fight terror than creating more of it! Reality does hurt, my friend but hope and love heal, please keep sharing, my thoughts are with you, much love b x

Manena Beki

Manena Beki, for your encouraging comment. Means a lot to me. You are right Beki, this is only the hope of a better time which keeps us striving to sing this sorrowful song of life... Feeling better to know I can express my feelings and thoughts in the poetry, letting others know. Your poem "Return TO Happiness" is really a strong piece.... I could feel it so closely. And I believe the same is the destiny of my nation! I believe when God wants to change a nation's condition, He confronts them with difficulties, maybe to awake them to do something for themselves, to change their miserable situation! making them strong to stand firm in front of difficulties. I always try to see the positive side of things and ofcource there is always one... Thanks a lot once again Beki, I am indebted to you. Love, Wafi

Heaven On Fire

Wafi, Tears were streaming down my face when I read this and that means you did a fine job on writing about this. I just wish it had been fiction. Thank you for being brave enough to share with us. _____________________________________________________ Income-tax forms should be more realistic by allowing the taxpayer to list "Uncle Sam" as a dependent Anonymous

You have done well to expose it here, thank you

Hi Wafi, I am glad I read finally to the end, to be honest I have learned a lesson not to make any decisions until I read to the very end, because when I discovered what the write was about it made the poem suddenly so much MORE worthy & valuable... hugely, in my eyes. I feel grateful to you for bringing this to us like this & I have tears in my eyes, for the ignorance of such things going on all over the world... we need to be reminded sometimes. So I agree with Beki, we get far less information in our affluent countries unless we have access to someone who knows the heart of it. You have done well to expose it here, thank you.~ Anni ~~~ "... but I don't care cause sometimes I hear my voice - And it's been here .... Silent All These Years" ~Tori Amos.

Heaven and hell

It's a very sad write Wafi, really brought me the feeling of how it is out there and we may as well laugh and cheer one another, though peace is in pieces in various global places. Anyway, thanks for bring this awarenes, i didn't know abou this one, just came to know about Darfur Sudan recently--there's innocent blood getting spilled there. Love and light alone is all we need paparazii

Thank You So Much Paparazii

Thank you Paparazii, for taking the time to read and comment. The operation against the millitants is still contionous and more and more people are compelled to leave their homes now. Swat valley is completely devasted, houses and bazars all are destroyed, seems like stone age is back. It's strange and painful to see that only some 1300 millitants created a Hell for millions of people. Did'nt know about the Darfur Sudan, did some googling. Was shocked to know about that. Adam must be ashamed of his children!!! Love, Wafi

Dear Wafi

Heaven and Hell. Yes sometimes devils walk the earth in the guise of men. You write as you have lived. As you have seen. The first commandment of a great writer. I have nothing but respect for you and your gift. Please never stop composing your work. Again the title here is perfect, you have a talent for titles that grab the reader on sight. Respect Dalton.
