Sundown

Shoulder my bag once again
and crush out my menthol light
Boots crunching on the roadside gravel
a black spot appears next to a faded can

Key the ignition
with a sense of purpose
And take one last look around

Isolated
Just myself and the Goldwing
living up to its name
it drives me towards the setting sun
I must catch it
racing
For my salvation depends upon it....

I love your style here, like

I love your style here, like just a snippet of thought from a very interesting story. Really gets my gears turning. Very well done. :) Dylan

Thanks, man!

As usual, I didn't write down the original... glad to know my paraphrasing worked for you, though. I may return and polish it up some, as I feel it still needs work. I really liked the poem. It had an eerie quality I thought I knew what it was about, but then I wasn't too sure. Is the Goldwing a car? 'Shoulder my bag once again--and crush out my menthol light' presents a strong image. Actually, it reminds me of you in the picture by the street lamp, which as I said before, I liked. Maybe that wasn't you--maybe there wasn't a street lamp--maybe I'm crazy. The stars are for the first two stanzas, especially the first one. Deelilah

Thanks, Dee...

I know what picture you're talking about. Actually that was taken at the Pennsylvania railroad museum in Strasburg, PA. I'm leaning up against one of the support pillars. A Honda Goldwing is a motorcycle - it's a "cruiser" not a sports bike (also known as a crotch rocket... you'd have to ride one to understand fully why it's been called that...LOL!) Thanks for the read and the comments. ~Jess K. ---------------------------------------------------- - "Atheism is a non-prophet organization" - George Carlin -"Don't sweat the petty things and don't pet the sweaty things" - George Carlin
