Breeze a Crowd
In the land of the California high desert void,
which happened to receive this moniker from folks avoiding it,
I notice how rich it is, what with all of it's emptiness and splendor;
and to assist the thermometer in assessing the excitement of the day,
the weeds begin loosening themselves and begin to tumble along...
probably to their own song, in an attempt to find a place to finally rest.
I am, however...positively sure that one of my theories is as true
as this arid climate can, and will...completely destroy any dog's ambition,
remove from their eyes life, and steal the energy it takes to tail-wag.
This battle, with the mercury can also siphon the bark right out of these wagless dog's throats !
However, my theory is simple. In this heat, these adventuresome weeds,
should never have left the safety of their footholds, to search for another resting place, to begin with.
Unless, however...their purposely embarking on a journey to see more of the desert.
That has to be it ! These tumbleweeds as they're called, are embarking on adventures courtesy of the wind.
Because of course, everyone knows that old saying's true....."you can't see the desert for the breeze".
