The Enchanted Highway
Travelling down the enchanted highway,
sights and seasons changing (a mere twinkle
of the eye), light shifting from bay to bay,
far and wide, thirsty blooms crave a sprinkle.
Spring buds shy, hidden in the dry grayness
of winter’s sightless eyes go yet unseen,
peek from under shaded purple rays, bless
the quickly spreading warmth and sudden green.
Grass shoots and flowers poke up bashful heads;
creature toddlers romp, and human tots too.
High deserts sing from cactus flower beds;
golden suns ride high and full moons shine blue.
I travel down an enchanted highway,
no end in sight, there will be no stopping
until nature’s children forget to play,
until eternal spring forgets to hope.
sights and seasons changing (a mere twinkle
of the eye), light shifting from bay to bay,
far and wide, thirsty blooms crave a sprinkle.
Spring buds shy, hidden in the dry grayness
of winter’s sightless eyes go yet unseen,
peek from under shaded purple rays, bless
the quickly spreading warmth and sudden green.
Grass shoots and flowers poke up bashful heads;
creature toddlers romp, and human tots too.
High deserts sing from cactus flower beds;
golden suns ride high and full moons shine blue.
I travel down an enchanted highway,
no end in sight, there will be no stopping
until nature’s children forget to play,
until eternal spring forgets to hope.
