My own gravity

I have my own gravity
Such lovely moons once used to orbit me
I’ve scattered stars and billowed cloud
Hummed a sky blue tune out loud
Still avoiding hoi polloi among the crowd
You turned up at my nebula and stayed

Brilliant comets come and go
Gold dust burning in their glow
Adding to the mysteries I know - that I don't know
They flaunt their tails, like gorgeous peacock plume
To some you blow a kiss, while others harbour doom
~~~
I gathered gentle stars into my pockets
Wishing you would come to me again
The infant in you seeks a pretty view
Even when it comes to you
you wouldn’t let it through
But I do
I do
Love your comments Richard, so insightful, & I find they often have me looking at my own work in a different way which is always a lovely gift, thank you. Glad you liked this, it's a bit hotch potch in terms of form & I was naughty to post it because I know it will annoy some people because the form is so loose & variable... but sometimes thats how they come our these babies. This poem
Hi, at first when I read started reading this poem I thought Wow!! ... the first line had me hooked. Then, halfway through, I realized it was a rhyming poem.... I got a little annoyed, I'm not the biggest fan of rhyming poems sometimes.... And I read it through another time or two. And then, I imagined the words as song lyrics, and made a melody line up as I read and sang the words to myself, And then the Wow moment re-occurred...
thank you for taking the time to reread, you gave me a gift
Thank you Edivold, this little story brought me lots of insight. It's true I mostly write in song, that's how I wrote most of my life - for song (very few of which ever get sung!), but I am learning how different it is to write poetry in the last few months since finding Neo. I am loving it, but find I need to focus more, the phrasing can be bent & stretched & chopped when you sing a line, but not so easily as a written piece. I would love to hear you sing this for me (chuckle - I have had the wonderfully fulfilling experience of hearing my songs sung back to me, on 2 occassions when the singers did not even know I had written them, it is such a lovely thing). Just want to say thank you for taking the time to reread & look at this differently, I appreciate that, & you have given me a gift, thank you Cheers woodchopping man xx~ Anni ~~~ "Love has no desire but to fulfill itself. Thanks lovely O', wanted it to be light, though there is shadow in it, hopefully hidden in the sweet glow of the celestial bodies within. Get some rest my friend. I have been unwell, so I am suddenly extremely aware how important rest is. xxx ~ Anni ~~~ "Love has no desire but to fulfill itself. I am a saddened by this
poem, Anni. It is lovely and gentle, yet it yearns so. I can feel this in the words and it tears at ones heart. To me, this is a story of finding Someone that has made you happy or content, if you will, for a time. Yet there is always a temptation for This other to be drawn to things see as brighter or better. Things flaunted (in this case, another, which is not good for the other person) There are some vixens out there that merely play games and see what conquest they may make. I hope all is well with you. Sometimes, is hard for people to figure out just what is and what isn’t good for them. I love the vision, though sad to me. Well written, Anni. Always Sincere, Tonya
Ah Tonya, you are a perceptive sister, of course you would be... funny I just alluded to the shadow gently nestled in what I felt was a "lightish" write. Sorry it made you sad, it feels odd to me, I am happily exploring new love, & yet the pull from a past connection still haunts me & keeps creeping in to my writing, I try to let it be gracefully, but we poets, there is a difficulty NOT to expose the heart sometimes. I guess in this case, my hope is that the gravity of that pull will transform so that I can be with the stars of the past in comfort, lovely glowing elements of my history, all of which contain the sweetness they once held, but do not intrude & threaten to eclipse... not that that is a possibility here, just the shadows of sadness in releasing the glow of a lost dream from one's present ~ Thanks Tonya xx Anni ~~~ "Love has no desire but to fulfill itself. Love that line dear Anni mi, with a touch of humour in it too. You catch the stars for us Anni and put them in your pocket, there to ruminate and turn into vision-like songs of this, our existence; desribed with such purposeful correctness that we are in awe of your minds eye and its creativity. Ann fra Norge with thanks.
You star, I feel you are nestled in my heart (pocket) always.
My darling Ann, you say such beautiful things, in such wonderfully lovely ways... thank you dearest one... & you are indeed such a bright & lovely star for me, I love you bright & inspiring in the heavens & yet I also feel you are nestled in my heart (pocket) always. As Rickie Lee Jones says "so hold onto that special friend - here, you'll need something to keep her in. & you stay inside this foolish grin, when everyday now, secrets end - but then again years may go by mmm years may go by"~ You make me smile such wonderful wide "foolish grins" & there you are right there in the warmth & the mirth... that's just you wonderful woman, you epitomise warmth & wonder, you really do shine like a warm, bright star. Much love to you dear one. xxx Anni ~~~ "Love has no desire but to fulfill itself. To melt and be like a running brook that sings its melody to the night. Hi Anni
You do love to live out there in the outer reaches of existence, don't you? This line expresses something I have come to know as an inevitable piece of life in this particular orbit. 'Comets come and go Adding to the visions and the elements I know that I don’t know' Lovely, out-there, a bit nostalgic images. Deelilah
Thanks Deelilah, & yes I do... but you know, that's exactly where I feel we meet, we Neo folk. I feel it's up or out there that we swirl around in the ether & bump merrilly into each other & we are rare & wonderful... not everyone gets to share this gorgeous stuff we live in. I feel we are so lucky. & ta about that line, it is such a wonderful liberating truth for me... soooooo much stuff that we don't know, I know there's lots I don't know, & I have come to LOVE the additions that people & loves bring to my life via that serendipitous linking - but when I get hit with something I don't KNOW that I don't know that's pretty magical.~ Anni ~~~ "Love has no desire but to fulfill itself. I allow just as much pull on me as I do on them so we float more
Heh, I am not surprised your were the central gravitational pull (not that I meant that in my own case, was more of a reflection on the few adoring ones I suppose), you have a lovely way from what I have read of you. I don't know Deelilah, I just feel so much gratitude for the love I've been given in my life. I guess I didn't have much in my younger years, so when it comes to me now I am so very aware of it's worth. In my youth I may not have been aware of it's power so much, & was hungry for it, as we all must be, even those who shun or deny it. Now I know the most potent way to be is to give it out. I want the gravity to be even now, the moons in my life now, I allow just as much pull on me as I do on them so we float more evenly & free... I do go on!~ Glad you liked this, please feel free to meander through my skies any time, without fear of gravitational imprisonment. Love having your bright loveliness around. xx Anni ~~~ "Love has no desire but to fulfill itself. To melt and be like a running brook that sings its melody to the night. Dear Cloudthings,
Wow, eh! You should blush for all the times you have re-read this and liked it. What do I need add? Just a terrific piece, and the more important part is that this marks a direction. But you know it all already... just prompted a confirmatory complement. (I smile) You deserve it. adieu, bjp
Oh, thank you, I thought this would be far too messy for your taste in honesty, I am glad to be wrong. & no I don't know it, I am unsure what you mean, in humbleness I request you let me know what is the direction you think is a good one? You see I do so many different things in my life, sometimes I feel I am flailing rediculously. A good friend & brilliant artist once said to me "imagine what you could do if you focused on one thing", I tried a little after this bomb was set under me, but I don't know that I can. Still I think sometimes how it would have been if I were encouraged in any of my persuits as a child, I think I might have been a very different person, & maybe not even a writer. Back to the point though, I think I could use a more clear direction, which I find hard to pin, so feel free to make suggestions. It is such a pleasure to know I have made you smile, makes me smile... all things are good through a truly inspired smile. So thank you. Cheers ~ Anni ~~~ "Love has no desire but to fulfill itself. This has promise Anni
but i think you could improve the flow a little and maybe substitute some words in places. Here are some suggestions: I have now my own gravity from tidal moons once orbiting me I've scattered stars and billowed cloud Hummed a sky blue tune out loud Still retreating from the parade You found my nebula and stayed Comets come and dust-burning go Elements and visions I know I don’t know They flaunt their tails, like gorgeous peacock plume, To some you blow a kiss, while others harbour doom. The last verse i like. Hope you see what i mean. BW Keithx
Ta Prof, have taken on SOME of your suggestions & altered others
Ta Prof, have taken antihist & am keeling over now, so will address this tomorrow, hope your trip went well.. Ok back now next day ... lets see, you suggest: I have now my own gravity (but I feel it is stronger as it was, not a new addition, but a stance, a way I know I am/have been?.. Is that me being foolish & stubborn?) from tidal moons once orbiting me (I hate to be resistant, but again I am loath to take this line, it changes the sense, the PAST TENSE in this line is a key to the sense of the poem, you see I no longer wish to pull moons to me, I'd rather have an even gravitational effect, harmonious co-existance) I’ve scattered stars and billowed cloud (I DO very much love this line, hate to use a line someone else has fashioned, but perhaps it will atone for my previous 2 aversions to change?!!!) Hummed a sky blue tune out loud Still retreating from the parade (Parade is such a temporary thing, it holds a different meaning... I might instead write "Still avoiding hoi polloi among the crowd") You found my nebula and stayed (again I prefer the sharper language, the absent sense portrayed in just "turning up & staying" rather than the more gentle finding & staying, it would not be the same story... am I wrong to hold onto this do you think? I do appreciate your input so much, you are such a smooth poet,we would never be the same of course, my style is far more - as you say -"unruly", but I do feel I have a lot to learn from you.) Comets come and dust-burning go (I guess it sounds so cliche, but I like "commets come & go", as is, perhaps in addition "gold dust burning in their glow") Elements and visions I know I don’t know (this again is a little too soft for the story I am telling, maybe "adding to the mysteries I know that I DON'T know") They flaunt their tails, like gorgeous peacock plume, (Oh YES, much better phrasing here thank you xxx) To some you blow a kiss, while others harbour doom. (I can't tell which works better in this last line, lets try both & see) Thanks for your effort Keith, I hope you find at least some improvement, I feel it is improved as a result of your comments. Thanks x The original, for the record: I have my own gravity had lovely moons that used to orbit me I scattered stars, created clouds Hummed a sky blue tune out loud Still retreating from the crowd You turned up at my nebula and stayed Comets come and go Adding to the visions and the elements I know that I don’t know They flaunt their tails like peacocks gorgeous plume Some you blow a kiss to and others harbour doom ~~~ I gathered gentle stars into my pockets Wishing you would come to me again The infant in you seeks a pretty view Even when it comes to you you wouldn’t let it through But I do I do x~ Anni ~~~ "Love has no desire but to fulfill itself.
