My Heart's Witness

Possessions favorite, are not my lot.
Collected baubles from a day
can't convince me of the sunrise,
I'll see that in my own way.

Keeping dreams as time holds us hostage
diminishes my point of view,
that won't change the way I feel
about the person that is you.

Learning lessons that are only meant
to help one to mature,
can only do one a service if...
through the lesson, one can endure.

All else really matters not.
Possessions, moments, or a place;
I've captured the beauty of life's melody
from being allowed to look into your face.

Gone, are hollow sentimentality's;
banished, are expectations of fate;
I've learned the lesson of dreaming too hard,
hopefully I've not learned it too late.

So as for the present and future times,
at worst they'll be made up of sighs;
the weight of the world shan't weigh me down
I've seen your essence pure.....with mine own eyes.

Okay....

I suppose earlier, you were just trying out new forms of writing for your self, and have been hiding your ability to just knock my socks off with something you could do all along. ?? This is absolutely wonderful. Theres such a truth that rings, about holding onto things that don't matter or can't be. Things that won't or can't alter what is actual and real. Both the physical (bits of memorabilia or even collecting possessions of costly items) and the mental (Events of the past that were sweet and lovely, like a lover from the past). As lovely and wonderful as the memories might be, they only hurt us. Ah, but so much easier said than done at times. lingering with the memories can be sweet but painful too. Perhaps the image of the one pure essence is enough to satisfy all the wants and needs, for now. Truly, A great poem Doc. It all melds and flows wonderfully. Can't find a thing i'd want to alter! EXCELLENT Always Sincere, Tonya

I truly....

...appreciate YOUR essence, too. It shines through every time you soulfully make a comment, or post an opinion. Thank you for that purity in your essence. Write On ! #{:>{)]@==== docmaverick.
