Dragonfly

Dragonfly, teacher
mother and friend
know that I'll be there
until the very end
whenever, whatever
the end may be
and all that comes before
will only make you
stronger, wiser, and
all the more sure

of the sunshine and light
you must show to the world
of the wonder of living
with the awe of a child

You may be growing older
but Ditty is still there
putting on her make up
and straightening her hair

she and I both want you to
continue to, revel in, travel on
the joys and woes
the ebb and flow
the give and take
for happiness sake
embrace yourself
brace yourself
for take off

A new decade
your 30s will fade
but the sunshine, at this time
is higher and brighter
no need to hold on
tighter and tighter
just let go and breathe slow
get ready to smile

As you travel the miles
of time, remember
what I bring to your journey
you bring to mine
My friend
to the end
and over the edge

I’m glad you liked it,

I'm glad you liked it, might of guessed you loved dragonflies too :) Anni, you'd love my friend Dee, a gorgeous woman (although I'm still trying to convince her of this!!) I'd be lost with out her, she's unbelievably supportive of me and Omi, she's family really. Not sure if this is the best poem I've ever written but it's one of the most personal and it means the world that she has it up at home and finds comfort in it when she needs to! :) Feel free to 'borrow' it, I know she won't mind sharing, i've told her all about you and I'm always making her look at something here on Neopoet! Oh Anni, I do hope you have the happiest of birthdays, filled with love, light and laughter :) much love b xxx

the sunshine and light...

there is such a positive aura surrounding this piece, what a treat, not just for your freind but for us all! I always preach about inconsistent rhyming but you work the occasional rhyme into the flow so well that it just simply fits. beautiful poem, your friend must have been very touched. your Proprietress

Hi Kata, so lovely to see

Hi Kata, so lovely to see you here, it seems to make Nina's absence a little easier to bear (I miss her). So glad you enjoyed the poem, it's funny you mention the 'aura' of the poem, i was talking to the friend I wrote this for the other day about how I feel that computers seem to transmit energy and how potent it is in some of the work I read here!! They almost contain traces of us AND those who read them! My friend was very touched, she has it on the wall by her bed, which is wonderful to me :) giving her a poem for her birthday is becoming a tradition, always the first present she'll go to open! Hope you are well? Can't tell you how much I enjoyed 'The Raspberry Moon'. much love b xx

Dragonfly

Amazing, the way you come up with this one, it also reminds me, of a dream years ago, i saw the dragon fly in my dream turning around my head, the next morning i've received one of the things i'd have been wishing for so long. It's great that the good things we've shared with our friends doesn't easly go away and we always crave for the moments. love n light
