Afterglow (revised from chat)
Afterglow
Day had been harsh
She arose in bad-temper;
Climbing the sky with vengeance
She scorched the land
With heat from the sun
Never thinking of reprieve
Reluctantly she ends her shift
Hands time over to night,
Who prefers the cooling of
Dusk and shade of mellow evenings
Out of mercy, she sends man a gift
Placing wispy clouds in the sky
She sinks the sun beyond the hills
Bathing the earth in a
Muted soft afterglow
