Sanity?

Sanity?

I’m sane; it’s the world that’s crazy
It can’t be me for I am most astute
I look at the world with wonder
And besides, I’m kind of cute

If I were crazy, would I be writing poems?
Would I try to put every feeling
on paper for all to see?
Would I write while here kneeling?

There are other ones who write
So I’m sane, I know this for a fact
If not, why do I have the talent
Those others seem to lack?

Don’t you have to be sane to write?
I know this has to be true.
Just look at the insanity of those other poets,
They’re not sane like me and you!

Some of the greatest works have been written by insane people. Look at the Mad Russian - he wrote Crime and Punishment... a supposed classic. There's hope.
