Awakened In The Night

old evening
restless with
a hint of night
on far horizon
I turn deep
in warmth of quilt
and find the sweet
warm scent of you upon me

somewhere in the center
of the long dark
after I had closed my eyes
and cresent moon
hung low and golden
westward through
our darkened window
open to the coolness
of new spring
you came upstairs
and filled our empty bed

Body warm skin soft
as moonflower petals
your breath my own
my arm draped over
the shape of world
that is you beside me
wide hip under hand
full breasts pressed
soft against my chest

dark hair earthen
on my cheek
honeysuckle hint
arms sliding up
enfolding comfort
to bring the rise
of my desire
but you are sleeping
and in your dreams
you smile
at matching heartbeats

and I feel that curve
of lips upon my throat
as depth of pleasure
at the melting center
of my heart

which god brought you
to fill my life?
I must live forever
I must

Hi Jim,

another love poem. I like how you manage to avoid colloquialisms in your love poems, I take it that your love is still as fresh as this poem and keep my fingers crossed that it will never cease to be extraordinary. Yours, ~Nina
