The Devil and Miss Daisy
The Devil and Miss Daisy
It was The Devil and Miss Daisy
They whispered every day
Just The Devil and Miss Daisy
When trouble came their way
They said he wasn't any good
For the boy was trouble bound
Then he met an older woman
And seemed to settle down
There were many whispers
Of trouble around our town
But Miss Daisy always vouched for him
And no one could pin him down
Well, The Devil's name is Delbert
But no-one calls him that
Not since that day in High School
When Mr. Schultz's tires went flat
Why Miss Daisy took to him
No one seems to have a clue
She was an older woman
But they stuck like Superglue
She had just turned thirty-four
When he was seventeen
And when they got together
Folks said it's obscene
It was The Devil and Miss Daisy
They whispered every day
Just The Devil and Miss Daisy
When trouble came their way
You can see that they're in love
Though people say it's crazy
Now they can only shake their head
At The Devil and Miss Daisy
Miss Daisy had an accident
And they thought she'd surely die
For weeks the Devil sat with her
And everyone saw him cry
The look of sorrow on his face
Broke the people's heart
The devotion that he showed for her
Gave them quite a start
Miss Daisy, she recovered
But the town was not the same
Now when they're seen together
Their heads bow in shame
It was The Devil and Miss Daisy
They whispered every day
Just The Devil and Miss Daisy
When trouble came their way
It was The Devil and Miss Daisy
They whispered every day
Just The Devil and Miss Daisy
When trouble came their way
They said he wasn't any good
For the boy was trouble bound
Then he met an older woman
