A Moment's Worth

Intrinsically meaningless, are the moment's of each day;
and as they silently evaporate one by one,
as if they were but a "footnote" of a notion that time exists, at all...

I still continue to cherish each and every one of them.
And it's because of the value that my heart places upon them.
For these otherwise empty capsules of time are filled with the essence of you.

A precious gem has worth because of it's beauty rare,
and because that gem's numbers are few;
as opposed to a grain of sand whose numbers are many
making it common and pedestrian-like in it's existence.


Should there be someone who has never laid eyes upon a flower,
they would surely cherish and even celebrate that flower's value
until the day that person is introduced to a bouquet of flowers from a meadow.

One just might continue to cherish that flower as a personal favorite,
but armed with the knowledge that the flower is decidedly commonplace...
he or she would most certainly have to agree that it's universal value would be lessened.

So it is that I realize that my moments now have more value than they ever have before,
and it's because we've shared footprints, tears and smiles, and the same evening sky...
amplifying that subtle pressure in my chest, that will always remind me,
that all of my moments have an incredible worth.....because of you.
