Return Of The Moon Babies

The moon is full and once again
The Moon Babies have come out to play
Just how they get here, no one can say

Their fair, fair hair is covered with stardust
And the twinkle of the stars fills their eyes
Their little white bodies glow in the moonlight

As they run about with such delight
They must slide down the moonbeams
To the earth below at midnight

And then their games begin
Hiding amongst the shadows of the leaves
Covering their giggles behind small hands

Jumping and splashing in the drops of dew
The game of hide and seek begins anew
1,2,3, I see you, you know I do

Gleefully they play the night away
While you and I sleep in the night's sway
They play their game as they

Softly sing out to one another
Now don't you peek. 1,2,3
Come find me

I absolutely adore this. the only problem I have is here with the repeat of away... Gleefully they play the night away While you and I sleep the night away I dunno should be another word to fit. will think on it. Other than that I think it works extremely well and the concept is pure magic. 4/5 Respectfully, Rett: "A Democracy can withstand anything but Democrats." Robert A. Rett

I was a little unsure of using 'away' in both lines, but I decided it would work, but I did change it as there were 2 comments about the use of this word twice. Ink liked it, and in a way I still do. But I am always open to suggestions for improvement. thank you, Rett Sincerely, Linda

Linda,

are we poets all being "lunatic"? I love the image of the moon babies, and how you describe their game of hide and seek here. Please check your spelling in l.7 ("the"->"they"?) again. Lines 3 and 12 are still a little rough, I think. May I suggest "Just how they get here, no one can say" as an alternative for l.3 and "stifling their giggles behind small hands" for l.12? How funny is this?

Simultaneous posting with Rett! His comment prompts me to add that I quite liked the repetition of "away". Again, ~Nina

I used your suggestion "just how they get here, no one cay say" as I do like it better than the way I had it. I corrected the typo "the" "they" I am still considering the word 'stifling' It feels to me a harder word, (for lack of a better way to say it)I was looking for a softer word.) Thank you for your help it is appreciated. Sincerely, Linda

Linda,

how about "hiding their giggles behind small hands"? I know what you mean about "stifling" sounding a little too harsh. Yours, ~Nina “Like plumbers and dentists, poets are fallible, and the possibility of genuine nonsense cannot be ruled out.” (Mark Haddon)

I finallly decided on 'covering', as 'hiding' was used in line before. Maybe I will think of a different word before it is all over. I do appreciate your comments and help Linda

Linda,

I completely forgot to leave you my rating. Even though I think that there may still be an alternative for "covering" coming, you have definitely done a great job on this one! And now it isn´t working. Grr! Yours, ~Nina “Like plumbers and dentists, poets are fallible, and the possibility of genuine nonsense cannot be ruled out.” (Mark Haddon)

Moonbeams

Well we are all on the same beam on this one as I had copied that line, and then read the Comments of Rett and the Lady Dragon. Had put another bit of line in there to keep us asleep lol While you and I sleep (the night away)---in the nights sway Did say I had done it, hopes this is a line to help ??? I love your Moon Babies reminds me of the Clangers they live out there also. Yours with respect, Ian.T

"In the night's sway" does work nicely, and I thank you for the suggestion. I did change the line. What is a Clanger? Thank you, Linda

The Clangers are little creatures that live on a lump of rock out in space, it is a childrens animated programme, quite simular to the Wombles, but these haven't much on their rock, a music tree and a soup dragon that gives them food from a cave, cannot remember all of it, but even as young as I am their simplicity was a beauty, you being so young, you have missed such a lot LOL, The Golden Key, the main charactor Sadie who looks after the children if they have problems on the spirit side, well one of the girls that went over there, all she wanted to do was make Rainbows, Sadie looked after her and found her Grandmother to come and fetch her. Before she left, she made a beautiful Rainbow for the childrens play area, it stretches over the waterfall there, now they have made steps up one side of the rainbow so that the children can climb up and then slide down the other side there they fall into a big chest that sends out love and happiness as they drop into it, but that's another story from my Sadie La La, you have a lovely day, each day, Yours Ian.T

Moon Babies rule!

This was just so adorable, I couldn't help but smile. "As they run about with such delight They must slide down the moonbeams To the earth below at midnight" - my favorite stanza, as the image was just way cool. The only thing I didn't really like was the double 'fair' in fair, fair hair. To me, one fair sufficed, but no one else mentioned it, so it's just me. BTW.... do you think the craters are from their trampolines? :~) ~Jess K. ---------------------------------------------------- -"Just because you have one, doesn't mean you need to be one..." Hi, how have you been. Moon craters from their trampolines? That's funny, I hadn't thought of that. Thank you for reading. Linda
