GOOD FRIDAY
Lonely and abandoned
He suffered in an awful silence
For this He had been born as man
This and nothing more
And yet for so much more
Willing but with trepidation
That surely gripped His heart
He knew the cruelty of sin demanded
That the price be paid
There was no other way
For thirty pieces of silver
And a single trecherous kiss
The deed had been signed
As long ago foretold
His precious blood would be shed
Lord have mercy, look upon your son
Your obedient and perfect sacrificial lamb
Who lovingly hangs impailed
Upon the wood of the Dogwood tree
And offers up his very soul
That we may someday step
Into Eternity and forever
To be with Thee
