Charade

Charade

Is there death after life,
will we be free from strife
or open some unknown door?
Will rest come to me,
can death set me free
to rest upon a new shore?

Is there death after life,
or some wicked device
designed to cause us more pain?
Is the cycle complete
with sleep our retreat,
will sorrow or happiness reign?

Is there death after life,
cessation of light,
will we walk upon streets of gold?
Must we lie in our grave
unless we are saved
and never the wonders behold?

These questions you see
will always haunt me,
unanswered until the end.
Is there life after death
of great scope and breadth,
will we fall or will we ascend?

If I may be bold,
do we have a soul,
or is it a story we've read?
Will our final sleep
be permanent and deep,
will our souls arise from the dead?

These questions unanswered,
like long legged dancers,
in the chorus line on life's stage.
They dance and they swirl
like a strip-teasing girl,
whose offer is all a charade!

hehehe does this mean I'm the first to ever comment on this poem on Neo?? Sweet! And even reading it again, I love it, hard to think anyone wouldn't comment on your poems...the audacity on such a well written piece!!!! That's some great rhyming here, and these are deep questions with few answers. As always, loved reading it! Peace N Love Katie Go Live & Get Rewarded

Thank you Katie!

Yes, I have posted this 3 or 4 other times. The last time it went a week, well 5 days without a single comment. At least this time I have one! Thank you very much. Glad you liked it! Thank you sir! I appreciate it. To be honest, that last verse came into my mind out of left field and I thought, Why not and let it stay. Glad you liked it. Thanks Eddie

Whether a person believes or not, neither will know until the end. To quote Alfred E. Newman of Mad Magazine, "What, me worry?" Good to see you back Eddie. I believe in Nueroscience however...

I do believe in God though and have been neaer other cultures to read view their beliefs I believe we are gobbling up the earth though in our way I believe in viruses which cycle and go and wars that will never end as long as man has his ways It would be nice to believe in Heaven and wings I can only imagine the gates of heaven and they are rusted This poem prevoked much thought from me this good Friday Rett as all your writing does its a privilidge knowing you your poems you write with no excuse they are dusted like the hides of steeds rode to town from working the trail And if peoples souls did go to heaven when they thaw out Mr Disney in the future from his Cyrogenic tube he will have life but no soul maybe I could be wrong!!!!! five stars my freind

Orgami, always a pleasure

hearing from you. You always bring food for thought and one of your comments on this one has given me an idea for a very short poem. I just got through writing it and will post it later tonight. I think you will find it extremely different! As you can tell, my mind tends to look at many things and in many different ways. I believe in God and offer no apologies to anyone over that, but I do not try to force my beliefs on them and demand the same respect from them. That doesn't mean I won't question something or offer a differing viewpoint though. *LOL* I am a man and man was created with an inquisitive brain and free will. I tend to exercise that. I always enjoy hearing your take on stuff my friend. It is always quite fascinating and never ever boring. Thank you for being here, for taking the time to read and comment and most of all, for just being you! Respectfully, Rett: "A Democracy can withstand anything but Democrats." Robert A. *LOL* Glad you and hubby enjoyed

And I appreciate the critique as always. What? you and I disagree on some? Who started that base canard? *LOL* This is one of those times though my friend. I used scope and breadth for a reason. I wanted to denote a wide sweeping panorama thus breadth, plus the whole varied depths of humanity and thus the word scope. *L* We agree at times, not at others.. Hmmm, I must be male and you must be a female. Darn, no wonder! *LOL* Thank you my friend. Respectfully, Rett: "A Democracy can withstand anything but Democrats." Robert A.
