Lethargy

Lethargy

Lethargy, you slug on humanity

You sit there and smile your content

As I struggle with contempt

Wallowing in my own insanity

Mind blank as a white page

Staring, empty, into space

Waging war with life’s pace

Fearful of venturing from my cage

The day dawns with wet cold skies

Further dampening dark thought

Bringing on more frantic distraught

Amplifying my half truths and lies

Lethargy, turn loose your vanity

Your self-centered line of control

Has dropped me into a abyssal hole

I curse you in anguished profanity
