Weakened

How deep were the hopes that hid in my chest.

Dreams of forever-love

Bringing the warmth of close intimacy,

Of  unity of souls;

Two lives sewn tightly together at the seams

So skillfully that beginning and ending would be lost.

Instead I find longing and sorrow,

For lies that have cut deep furrows

In the fields of harmony

And confusion now strangles the peace

That once grew here.

Among the brambles of psyche

Wander ghosts of imagination,

They haunt me in your absence

Questioning the integrity of each word.

While my substance wears away

With each breath drawn in Hope,

Expelled in fiery Disappointment

Charring my soul with unfulfilled expectations.

I seek out Forgiveness

Trying to understand its ways

Attempting to apply it as a balm

To a still bleeding wound that won’t heal.

Yet Love persists

Despite the crushing pain,

It sleeps and waits…

A seed, expectant of a coming Spring.

It will soak in understood patience

Waiting for roots to slowly emerge

Through the passing of time,

To nurture reborn trust.

Love will thrust forth

The leaves of Understanding,

To absorb the light of Hope

That will guide, direct, and lead

The growth that is to come.

just love the likening of love to flowers or garden. this is what i feel, that love is a garden. you have to nurture it and pick out all the weeds and water it with reciprocation, letting the leaves of understanding absorb the light of our hopeful spring. there is no doubt that you know the difference between weeds and budding plants of love! great work, blue. keep on keeping on. gee.
