Where does hope go?

It trickles off the pavement
Like an iridescent oil film
That dances on the backs of raindrops
In great supply….

Until a deluge of disappointment comes,
Washing away
the delicate strands
of shining rainbows
That disappear down the drain…

Becoming swallowed by darkness,
Where the interference of light
is put to an end.

Blue Halcyon...

Wonderful imagery here for lost hopes... very sad when it sinks in just how deep this little write is... very good write! Richard

where does hope go?

i don't know if this has any more meaning to it than what it first appears but, i have a vision of the rain in my drive, washing the oil that our cars have regurgitated, out into the street, along the gutter and down the sewer. this is such a good visual that i guess that i am missing the side it must be showing anyone else. anyhow, spring is springing, and the rain is washing the earh for a brand new start. thanks for giving me a reason to love the rain.[at least for a day or two.] keep on keeping on, gee.

This has a deep meaning,

This has a deep meaning, very obvious. The title gives that away. I like how it poetically and touchingly says hope is basically going down a dirty drain (at least thats how it came across to me...but i have been off the wall all week...) Love the ending, the interference of light is put to an end...dont we all kno how that feels? Great write, though, as always Misty! Peace and Love Katie

Definately agree with Katie,

But me being a bit of optimist envisions hope eventually being cleansed as the drain reaches the sea (if it gets that far). Lovely imagery, especially like the line "That dances on the backs of raindrops", I can just picture splashing, rainbow reflecting raindrops that turns into black water when it reaches the drain with no light to bounce its colors around. xxsjxx
