Ode to Sleepy Hollow
The wind spread fears
where there were no ears,
upon this headless sight:
Stealth became
this madman's game,
as he run amuck each night.
Without a head
it's soul was led,
to kill and cause demise;
but, this man Ichabod
couldn't even nod,
at the head that had no eyes.
It lived a curse
but even worse,
this demon from the Hollow;
owned not, the drive
that kept it alive,
but, it's curse was too hard to swallow.
Even his "evil eye"
would not die,
after all was done and said;
chapter and verse
it had to rehearse,
without it's severed head.
A Winter moon
and an angry wound,
with a sword that would not miss;
led Constable Crane
to rack his brain,
as he tallied up, death's list.
The horseman's vow
without a brow,
did gallop through the town;
he was both sad
and very, very mad
as he brought his victims down.
He broke all laws
with his evil cause,
and Ichabod understood;
for with no eyes
he found his "prize",
and fled, back into the wood.
As the legend ends
Sleepy Hollow made friends,
with Ichabod Crane, that night;
they attributed the "cop"
with causing the curse to stop,
ending the legend of Sleepy Hollow's fright!
where there were no ears,
upon this headless sight:
Stealth became
this madman's game,
as he run amuck each night.
Without a head
it's soul was led,
to kill and cause demise;
but, this man Ichabod
