Sometimes

Sometimes

Sometimes I wish that life
wasn't quite so precious
that I didn't enjoy the moments
spent with the ones I hold dear
and that this old world
didn't hold such beauty

Sometimes when the pain
is almost more than I can bear
I wish that I could end it
so I'd never hurt again
When I'm lying in bed
each movement blinding agony
I wonder what a lack of pain
would truly feel like

Sometimes I wish that this life
didn't hold such awesome beauty
and that love and mother nature
weren't so marvelous to behold
Sometimes the pain makes me crazy

But only sometimes

Once in a while, I have a bad time my friend

But only for a bit. I have anywhere from 4 to 22 injections every two weeks to help control it, but things have been rather rough lately and haven't been able to make my appointments like I should and I've been paying for it. Things are getting better now. No worries. Life is too beautiful to stay down long. Respectfully, Rett: "A Democracy can withstand anything but Democrats." Robert A. Thanks Org

Isn't it funny that everytime a person starts to have a pity party for themselves, all they have to do is look around at others and realize that they aren't as bad off as they thought they were? I always find it so. Sad story there, makes me be thankful for what I have. I appreciate it my friend. Respectfully, Rett: "A Democracy can withstand anything but Democrats." Robert A. Wow Rett, amazing as always.

Wow Rett, amazing as always. The fact that the poem is awesome never ceases to amaze...it is just the poem in itself that amazes me, cause you do something different everytime. Such emotion to how we all feel about life somedays, whether the pain be physical or emotional. But the key word is sometimes...any other day life can be just wonderful! Peace and Love Katie

Exactly Katie

Sometimes things can get you down, but take a few moment to look around. Count the blessings you have, look at the beauty, the love, the happiness and then, quit feeling sorry for yourself and enjoy life. But only sometimes...

Not always, when the pain is too much and life seems not as precious or love not marvelous, that one wishes to throw everything away. The pendulum swings from sometimes of misery and pains to peace and harmony. This is very good Rett. Best wishes. T.

Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't. *S* Life has ups and downs, but every downswing is followed by an up. Nothing to worry about my friend. Sometimes!

Rett, WOW! you described a painful truth about life so beautifully, a touching, sad and at the same time a sweet write from you.I felt like you know my mind while reading this poem. Life shows us many different scenes, sometimes happy and sometimes sad, but it depends upon us how we take it.Usually after a bad time when I remember it, I feel stupid and laugh at myself, thinking that why did I take it so difficult and felt so hopeless. As life goes our perceptions about the difficulties that life gives us, also change. Enjoyed reading it. You always come up with something different and new, and I love it. Sincerely, Wafi

Thanks so much Wafi

Life is always changing. What is true today isn't necessarily so tomorrow. Sometimes it is good, sometimes bad. Without the bad, a person doesn't know how to appreciate the good. How's the family my friend? Well I hope. Respectfully, Rett: "A Democracy can withstand anything but Democrats." Robert A. Nicely put Rett, and putting

Nicely put Rett, and putting it as a negative can make the actual fact more poignant than otherwise, this is the case here. Some in this group of writers of poetry know the pain that is real, and eats away from the visions of beauty that this world presents for us, to be in pain caused by its beauty must for them be a kind of unreachable ecstasy, an unreal dream. To Rett full of love for his fellow men(women!) and the nature of the world, respectfully Ann

Absolutely my friend. Sometimes those that love beauty have a little trouble finding and enjoying it, but only sometimes. I appreciate it more than you can know my friend and I thank you so much. Yah

Pain. I know it well as an intimate friend when my heart cries NO you can't my shoulder stabs agony and my leg tries to buckle, still weak from where the surgeon sliced out veins to bypass my clogged arteries all those years ago I get angry at the pain, myself, I curse it and spit defiance at it because there's just too much wonder in the world, and too much to enjoy, as you so exactly say my friend. I know what you mean Jim

I haven't had to have by-pass as of yet, but have had two heart attacks and I have 4 stints. Between the heart, the R.A. and the gout I get so dang frustrated at times that I don't know what to do. It's just that you look around and there is so much beauty in people, nature and the simplest things that you can't stay upset for long. Many thanks for the read and the insight my friend. Rett...

Pain is an overwhelming force that can take our moments away from us, but sometimes the beauty of a child's smile or a flower reaching for the sun can make us forget... sometimes... enjoyed your somber but hopeful write... Richard

Isn't it amazing how many poets understand this simple outlook? My personal feelings is those of us crazy enough to write poetry have been slapped in the face so many times with adversity that you have to look at the good things this old world offers or go even crazier than we already are. *G* Respectfully, Rett: "A Democracy can withstand anything but Democrats." I like this, we all have our sometimes me too. Like the rhyme and rhythm. You are so right, all we have to do is to go outside and see the beauty in nature. That is the good part about having the heart of a poet. Seeing the good in the bad. Good job my friend. Patty

Yep, all of us have our sometimes, but they are overshadowed by the beauty around us if we will only look. I am very happy you enjoyed it. Thank you.
