Spirit Song

Spirit Song

The day has been long

Filled with sounds of living

The song of our people

As Mother Earth removes her

Bright light from the sky

The in-between time waits

For the muted glow of moon

Cooking fires have been banked

The tribal fire fed

Drawing us to its edge of vision

The slow beat of drum begin

We settle in, eager to open

Our minds and hear the feats

Of Warriors before and present

Storyteller of our tribe

Steps close to the fire

Begins a slow beautiful dance;

Expresses reverence to

The elements of our world

The Teller stills, begins to speak softly

From the fire, great magic is made

We listen and watch the flames

One by one our ancestor’s spirits appear;

Called from their tales of bravery

We see their deeds unfold

We feel the beat of their heart

We become one with our guides of old

We grow strong, proud, bold

We need their strength

To hear and learn our history

To remember and know what is possible

Life is not easy, is blended with natures flow

We absorb and pay heed

Lest we forget and are forgotten

thank you Nokros. I love a

thank you Nokros. I love a good storyteller, they have the ability to bring to life the words, making images dance before our eyes. A storytell was such an important part of man, before written word, before 'supposed civilization in some areas' they passed down the chronicles of their exploits and beliefs. I do believe many were more civilized then, than now. Thank you for reading sir. Always Sincere, Tonya
