Too Many Times

Too many times
have I seen your promises
fade, like a red scarf in the sun;

and too many times
have I heard your intentions
breeze away, like smoke in the wind.

I apologize.....but, I grow weary
of the constant repetition
and the way the images drip from my eyes.

Too many times
I've been reminded of your broken promises
and the way I feel when they do not come to pass.

But, I am learning
to ignore the implications of your mind,
and to focus on the subtleties of your heart;

for, too many times
it was I who had to make excuses
to friends, for the way you come across.

But, for now.....
I will let it all slip silently away,
because I find it easier to simply focus..........on you, and what you need.
