just before it starts to rain

don't look at me in that tone of voice
i mean how's a lady supposed to know?
they sell no dragon nets at Wallmart's,
and fishnet stockings aren't exactly en vogue
i'm too old to put on my armour,
rusty and musty after all these years,
my breasts just aren't perky enough
to play Jeanne d'Arc or Wonder Woman
my sidekick Gabrielle quit and has
become Xenophobic,
so what's a poet to do when all she has
is a scarf of crimson flame and silken desire
and no one applies for the job
of loving me,
(can't anyone read between the lines?)
to wear my favor,
me still hungry for love
after all these identities,
and the sky is falling
fluffy clouds that look like lovers
embracing just before it starts to rain.

Anna,

feeling too old to wear my "armour" myself... Loved every word, the opening line alone was brilliant! Yours, ~Nina P.S. Where are all the good men? They cannot all be taken, can they?

Sigh. The good ones I know

Sigh. The good ones I know ARE all taken, and the ones I have loved are dead. So, wish you were lived in my neck of the woods, and we could cry in our beer even though St. Patty's day is over. Sniff. Hug. ~A "We have to try to get rid of the notion of time. A song from a siren? A beautiful angel of light? Who knows from where love comes and where it goes.. Smiles and hugs, ~A "We have to try to get rid of the notion of time. well done and for a good woman, there is a good man, but remember, in a life of give and take, learn what it takes to give. Cheers and best wishes. T.

"but remember, in a life of give and take, learn what it takes to give." Well said. Love is all there is... and from there we take all we can give.... ~Anna "We have to try to get rid of the notion of time. You wag Anna

You are a crazy woman, flaunting your tits and embracing fluffy (FUFFY) clouds! What ho sailor of the seven seas and rider of the knight's horse, fishing with your fishnet stockings for the lover that sneaked away between the Xenophobic dragon's silken desires. Your crimson flamed scarf flying and your heart on your hat, heady stuff here Anna of the magic seas. You fair got me rolling in it; I, who doesn't know the tune you mean (probably wouldn't as I don't know much about pop music or pop songs) and who doesn't know where Wallmart's is, I presume a shopping mall place. But it was fun to ride on and I hope it doesn't mean that you too are alone, If so I can't think why. Yours Ann of Norway

Well, it takes one to know

Well, it takes one to know one, eh? I read your reply and read the poem about 3 times before I figured out the *l* was missing from fluffy. lol. I am dense as a forest... as a bullet whizzes past my head. Wallmart is a discount chainstore. I am sometimes loathe to find one thing *made in America* and though they profess to politics & policies otherwise, many folks make it their religion not to purchase anything from them. And it's raining men (outside wall-mart's ;-)?) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=16SQoW26hYQ&feature=related You really out to write a book with the poems and your take on the poems, they're grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat! ~A

You are always

slightly tongue in cheek with your romantic, yearning poems Anna. Feels like Xena Warrior again. Not sure it was only the "l" that was missing from fuffy lol. Enjoyed as always. Keith

Hi Keith, surprised to see

Hi Keith, surprised to see you stop by. Ha! What else could be missing besides the *l*? Anna batting her eyelashes.... Glad you enjoyed... My forage into the *stream* is hit & miss these days, so I see you wrote a poem a few days ago, I'll probably comment sooner or later. lol. ~Anna

Anna

At least you HAD the endowment to play a superwoman... *sniff* I loved this poem, but didn't feel that the title made sense; though it's entirely possible that I'm missing something. ~Jess K. ---------------------------------------------------- -"The truth is, it doesn't matter what you do. Ms. Talent, I love what you do with your photos ....and your new signature line. Not too long ago, red was my favourite colour... And now I'm definitely into blue. Must be cooling down in my old age. ;-) Hug. ~A

Hello Kailashana,

I like this poem. I like that it is intelligent, has no rhymes and has a "snug" fit to it. Paraphrasing a character from "Saving Private Ryan": "This is the way to complain." Adieu, bjp

I am enamored of those who

I am enamored of those who write in rhymes... If I do, it is certainly incidental. Keith often writes in the style of the romantic poets of yore. John (Shazbat) is (in)famous for his wit and a master of rhyme. Watching "Saving Private Ryan" was for me difficult emotional work... Seems some of the best films nowadays are. Thanks for reading, bjp. ~A "The way you make love is the way God will be with you." Rumi

Thank you my moonman.

Thank you my moonman. However, I am alone and lonely even though my x has moved back in and and I am a live-in caregiver 4 days a week... I so envy happily married folks... those who read poetry to their partners, and brush the hair from their Lover's eyes...steal kisses and touch well-known places when no one is looking.... ~A T"The way you make love is the way God will be with you."
