You had it all
You had it all, each symptom in the book -
that self-help guide which some survivors read
to try to understand, at least -
though everything's too late.
You had: negative predicting; tunnel vision:
seeing things in black and white;
dark communication; dropping hints;
feeling crushing reason; no way out;
the black tide welling up; the stubbornness;
the blank, stone-wall refusal to see a brighter side;
the dungeon, forest, and murky mist
which cuts out light or love
or hope or help from others.
You had it all.
I've been luckier so far -
borne up by relatives and friends.
I was prepared to talk
and they, to listen:
I've 'hung on in',
apparently.
that self-help guide which some survivors read
to try to understand, at least -
though everything's too late.
You had: negative predicting; tunnel vision:
seeing things in black and white;
dark communication; dropping hints;
feeling crushing reason; no way out;
the black tide welling up; the stubbornness;
the blank, stone-wall refusal to see a brighter side;
the dungeon, forest, and murky mist
which cuts out light or love
or hope or help from others.
You had it all.
I've been luckier so far -
borne up by relatives and friends.
I was prepared to talk
and they, to listen:
I've 'hung on in',
apparently.
