Dark Reds of Night
The lady slips into ice cold velvet,
wanders alone through the dark reds of night,
following a new curve in the pathway
with no choice but to see it to the end.
It is dark beyond reason, murky ink,
a maize of the mind
unable to fathom.
Winter leaves flutter beneath her bare feet,
crushed;
used, they lie bleeding to death on the ground
as she wanders through the dark reds of night.
A candle flickers.
The long dark is done;
and she lies down to rest in cold velvet,
awaiting light blue morning and new warm.
She dreams of her wedding day when she will wear
white satin.
A candle flickers.
And the bright morning star offers a hand
to escort her to the banquet.
wanders alone through the dark reds of night,
following a new curve in the pathway
with no choice but to see it to the end.
It is dark beyond reason, murky ink,
a maize of the mind
unable to fathom.
Winter leaves flutter beneath her bare feet,
crushed;
used, they lie bleeding to death on the ground
as she wanders through the dark reds of night.
A candle flickers.
The long dark is done;
and she lies down to rest in cold velvet,
awaiting light blue morning and new warm.
She dreams of her wedding day when she will wear
white satin.
A candle flickers.
And the bright morning star offers a hand
to escort her to the banquet.
