Five Minds Think Alike
As my companion and I were close to finishing our travels,
not very far, mind you.....but a distance, just the same;
we spoke briefly, about our final destination.
We paused and wondered in our first minds, which pathway should direct us
and help bring our quest to a conclusion, on this day,
as we had before us, two roads from which to choose.
One stretch of the highway was rather barren in appearance
and the other one was quite lovely, to say the least.
Plus, we could see our final "point B", from both of our choices of "point A's".
So, we then began trading dialog, as to which avenue would better serve our needs,
as time was very much a factor, and of the essence.
Briefly, we challenged one another about this very dilemma.
Our collective first minds told us to take the worn path to the left,
for it's condition lent towards the thought of usage.
But, our second minds saw that the other trail was rather quite pleasant, and led straight to our destination.
I would even venture to say, that it was attractive to even all of the senses;
and in addition, it was very straight and did not meander,
leading our third minds to believe it would also be kind to our coach, as we made our way.
We were coaxed on, by our fourth minds, to not only consider this avenue.....but, to indulge it's way...
for the sands in the hour-glass were flowing swiftly enough,
motivating our collective fifth minds, to dilly, not.....and to dally, less.....and to just plain.....carry on.
Our conversation was pleasant enough, as we traveled,
and our eyes drank in the the majesty of mother nature's handiwork.
Furthermore, our third minds were correct about the ease as to which our coach could handle the road.
But suddenly, our itinerary fell greatly beyond our grasp,
as we came upon an unscheduled stop, that was really, quite necessary;
for looming in front of us, our most appealing second-choice road.....had turned into a dead-end.
Gone, was our precious time-frame,
and gone, were our hopes of securing our destination on schedule,
and within the scheduled time-frame, of which I speak.
But, what spoke to our second minds, since our first minds were rather overwhelmed at the situation,
was that our destination was still, clearly in our view...
taunting us ever so childishly, yet brazenly waving to us, so as to point out our error.
Realistically we knew, that it was meant that we turn around, and back-track.
But, so discouraged were we to lose such a precious element as time, to a schedule,
that it was then, that our third minds took over.....and we did just what we had to do.
With our tails between our legs, and throwing caution to the wind, we returned to our former "point A".
We then, traveled the more visually worn out first road, in an awkward, quiet silence.....
as our fourth mind reminded us to digest what had just transpired.
For our actions had taught us something most worthy of a completely shattered schedule.
We had decided, and were allowed.....to travel the more beautiful, "road less traveled", and had fallen short of the goal;
however, our fifth mind was quite kind in pointing out for us.....that, we were of the few to have traveled.....both.
